| 抄録 | 本研究では，知的障害特別支援学校中学部に在籍する２名の生徒を対象として，ヒーロー（特別な興味の対象）の社会的好子としての効力とビデオヒーローモデリング（VHM）の効果との関連性について検討した。まず，担任教師への面接および質問紙調査によってそれぞれの生徒のヒーローを特定した。次に，任意の課題場面においてヒーローによる称賛を非随伴的に提示し，課題遂行率の変化を測定することでヒーローの社会的好子としての機能を確かめた。その後，日常生活場面から選定された標的行動に対してVHMを実施した。その結果，どちらの生徒についてもヒーローの社会的好子としての効力が確かめられたにもかかわらず，１名の生徒にはVHMによる行動改善が観察された一方で，もう１名の生徒の行動改善は限定的であった。ヒーローからの称賛が好子として機能するとしても，そのことが必ずしもVHMによる介入効果を予想するものではないことが示唆された。 |

| 抄録 | Uzuka and Oka （2016） studied the result of the questionnaire for international students who had tutorials by International Student Support Volunteer Group, WAWA during the period from April 2007 to March 2015 and clarified some issues such as the necessity of regular tutoring, demand to accommodate a wide variety of situations, enhancing the quality of volunteer tutors and so on. Meanwhile, a questionnaire survey for volunteer tutors was also conducted. In this paper, the authors examine the situation and the issues of tutoring for international students based on the results of this tutor survey. A total of 113 volunteer tutors （a response rate 77.9%） responded to the survey. Research has found that periodicity, frequency and the number of items covered by tutoring are the three factors that are related to tutor satisfaction. Authors recognize statistical difficulties that there can be a mutual influence relationship among the three factors and the satisfaction of the tutors and the data used in this study are irregular repeated measurements. Based on these points of consideration, the results of this survey targeting tutors revealed that the satisfaction level of tutors who conducted periodic tutoring was significantly higher than those who did not. In addition, it was confirmed that the degree of satisfaction of tutors with more frequent tutoring was significantly higher than those with less frequent one and the satisfaction of tutors who accommodated more items was significantly higher than those who did less. Therefore, the result shows that it is the most important tasks for WAWA staff and advising teachers to build a tutoring system that can conduct periodic tutoring which offer multiple services including various living support along with Japanese language learning support at least once a week for four months. |

| タイトル（別表記） | Support for Big Government : Evolution of Adam Smith’s View on Taxation from Lectures on Jurisprudence to The Wealth of Nations |

| 抄録 | Adam Smith is well known as an archetypal, leading economist and advocate of laissez-faire capitalism. In fact, Smith analyses the autonomous mechanism of a market economy, criticises mercantile protection, and strongly advocates a free trade policy. However, a considerable number of Smith’s interpreters such as J.Viner have recognised that Smith himself offers many exceptions to laissez-faire. Interestingly, most of the exceptions are not presented in Lectures on Jurisprudence（ LJ）; they appear for the first time in The Wealth of Nations（ WN）. Rather than inconsistencies in the passing, these references seem to reflect a conscious shift in Smith’s policy principle from laissez-faire with a small government to state intervention under a big government. In WN, Smith maintains support for the laissez-faire approach only in the area of foreign trade, and prescribes state intervention in other areas such as banking, financial markets, public works and institutions, and taxation. This article focuses particularly on the evolution of Smith’s view on taxation from LJ to WN. Smith insists in LJ that taxation should be minimised so as not to interfere with the behaviour of various economic agents and the autonomous mechanism of a market economy. However, Smith renounces his fundamental idea of taxation in WN, which indicates support for the imposition of heavier taxes on the rich and reduced taxes on the poor. He proposes an increase in land tax and rejects taxes on profit and wages. He favours various types of progressive taxes and criticises regressive ones, concerning land, houses, and toll, among others. Notably, Smith strongly supports various kinds of “taxes upon the capital value of lands, houses and stock” such as succession tax, land tax, house-rent tax and“ stampduties and duties of registration” indirectly taxed on interest. |

| 抄録 | The objectives of the present study were to establish a non-surgical transfer method for elongating bovine conceptuses and to combine this method with biopsy and sexing. Bovine conceptuses were recovered from donor cows on day 13-14 of the estrus cycle. In experiment 1, day 13 conceptuses were transferred to recipient cows using a standard day 7 embryo transfer (ET) method. The pregnancy rate of day 13 conceptus transfer (CT) is comparable to that of day 7 ET. In experiment 2, day 14 conceptuses were transferred using modified methods (balloon catheters or ET guns with modified sheaths). Using the standard ET method, no pregnancies were obtained;however, when balloon catheters or ET guns with modified sheaths were used, the pregnancy rates after CT were 48.0％ and 44.8％, respectively. In experiment 3, day 14 conceptuses were biopsied without a micromanipulator, sexed using the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) method, and transferred to recipient cows. The pregnancy rate of biopsied conceptuses was 46.2％ and did not differ significantly from that of unbiopsied with conceptuses. Moreover, all pregnant cows transferred conceptuses following biopsy and sexing delivered calves with the expected sexes. These results suggested that the non-surgical bovine conceptus transfer (CT) method was comparable to day 7 ET, and that this technique enables biopsy and sexing without expensive equipment such as a micromanipulator or specialized skills. |

| 抄録 | Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) has been used as a rapid and effective tool for functional analysis of genes in various plants, including woody fruit tree species. In this study, we attempted to develop a VIGS-based gene evaluation system for seven Prunus species, including apricot (P. armeniaca L.), sweet cherry (P. avium L.), almond [P. dulcis (Mill.) D. A. Webb.], peach (P. persica Batsch), Japanese apricot (P. mume Siebold & Zucc.), Japanese plum (P. salicina Lindl.), and European plum (P. domestica L.), with the Apple latent spherical virus (ALSV) vectors. ALSV vectors carrying part of the apricot PHYTOENE DESATURASE (PDS) gene sequence were amplified in Nicotiana benthamiana, and inoculated into the cotyledons of Prunus seedlings by particle bombardment. Typical PDS-silenced phenotypes, characterized by uniform discoloration of the upper leaves, were observed in sweet cherry and some cultivars of apricot and almond several weeks after inoculation. In contrast, attempted ALSV infections of Japanese apricot, Japanese plum, European plum, and the other cultivars of apricot and almond were unsuccessful. Furthermore, although the infection rate of ALSV in peach was high, severe viral infection symptoms were observed in the infected leaves. These results collectively suggested that the efficiency of ALSV infection and VIGS could vary depending on species and/or cultivar in Prunus. The possible use of the ALSV-mediated VIGS system for functional analysis of genes in Prunus is discussed. |
