Abstract Studies were carried out in order to know in some detail the transport phenomena through the interface in the viscous liquid moving in laminar flow. Experiments were carried out using ca. 88% glycerin solution, one added with an acid, and the other with alkali together with a small amount of phenolphthalein. Acidic glycerin solution was supplied to a long transparent cuvette of rectangular cross section through which the liquid was made to move slowly enough to establish the laminar flow, thin cords of coloured basic solution were introduced in the direction normal to the axis of flow at regular time intervals. The so obtained patterns of bending cords shortening in regular succession were photographed also at regular time intervals. The authors attribute the origin of the changing patterns of the cords to the velocity gradient existing in the acidic solution which accelerates the diffusion by increasing the concentration gradient near the cords as well as the increase of the interfacial area, and also the decrease of the thickness of the cords. Based on these idea a mathematical analysis was carried out and was obtained an equation which gives the change of the concentration distribution of two dimensional cords. Fair agreement was obtained between the results of mathematical analysis and those of experiments. Furthermore, the influence of the thickness of the cords, and that of the velocity gradient as well as of the diffusion coefficient on the concentration at the center of the cords were discussed.

Abstract The aim of this investigation is the proposal of 3D mesh generation method based on the Delaunay triangulation. The method is valid for the finite element modelling of any convex 3D domain into tetrahedra with optimum geometrical configuration. This paper includes the mathematical background of the mesh generation method, its detail, proposal of some efficient tools for faster and more rigorous computations, and some examples of the mesh generation.

Abstract This paper deals with the low Mach numbers flow of a rarefied vapour past a liquid sphere accompanied with condensation and evaporation at its surface. The linearized Bhatnager-Gross-Krook(B-G-K} equation is used for the analysis, and from it the integral equations of the density, temperature and flow velocities are derived. These integral equations are solved numerically over a wide range of the Knudsen number covering from the slip flow to the nearly free molecular flow. The drag on the sphere is also calculated and is compared with that of previous work.

Abstract In the field of dental study it is most fundamental and necessary to estimate the condition of periodontium. In order to examine a mechanical characteristics of periodontium, the theoretical displacement response to periodontal mechanical model (three elements model) are strictly solved in case of some pulse excitations. Impact excitations (rectangular, triangular and half-cycle sine pulse) are given in physical and mathematical definitions and complete solutions to the impact excitations are provided. The triangular pulse excitation which is obtained by means of a fracture of pencil-lead is most suitable. The mechanical parameters of periodontium are given using this input excitation. This is experimentally confirmed by artificial tooth model. The obtained mechanical characteristic of the periodontal tissues can be applied to clinical diagnosis.

Abstract The present paper deals with a new perfomance measure, the actual mean flow time, defined as a mean of the elapsed time of each job counted from the start time on a schedule to the corresponding due date. For the one machine backward scheduling model with a common due date and independent setup times, LPT schedule is shown as the optimal solution for the proposed measure. An optimal algorithm is presented for the case with dependent setup times on the basis of the algorithm by Arcelus and Chandra for a n / 1 / F forward scheduling problem. The proposed algorithm is coded in C-language and a computational experience is reported through a 16-bit computer.

Abstract In the group signature scheme with a trusted party, a verifier can determine whether or not a signature is made by a member of the group, but cannot identify the member who signed the signature. In case of dispute later on, the signer can be identified by the trusted party. However, for efficient group signature schemes proposed so far, removing a member from the group can be not efficiently performed. In this paper, a group signature scheme with an easy membership canceling is proposed. By sending a request to use a resource together with the group signature on it to the manager of the resource, the manager can control anonymous accesses to the resource. In such an application, the proposed group signature scheme is suitable for canceling of the access privilege.

Abstract A method for standardizing parts is proposed. This method aims to reduce the sort of parts for cutting the manufacturing cost and for improving specifications of parts. Two linear mathematical programming models are proposed for standardizing the parts. One model aims at cutting cost half without causing any degradation of mechanical specifications of parts. The other model aims at doubling mechanical specifications of parts below the acceptable manufacturing cost. These models are formulated in 0-1 integer programming forms. The integer programming model shows which part is common to other parts. An example is shown to demonstrate the use of the developed method.

Abstract In order to perform the large-scale molecular dynamics simulation of the Yukawa system, a mathematical expression for molecular dynamics using the fast multipole method is described. The model simulations are also performed to test the performance of our implementation of the FMM.

Abstract 1987年4月から1995年4月の9年間に衛生技術学科へ入学した361名を対象に,高校評点,入学試験(学力試験)成績と,入学後の学業成績,退学,留年,臨床検査技師国家試験との関係を調べた。 1)入学者総数は361名で,このうち留年者が39名(10,8%),退学者が18名(5%)であった。退学者の中には,実質入学辞退者が6名,4年制大学へ進路を変更した者が4名いたが,こうした退学者は1992年度までの入学者に多かった。 2)入学者全体では,予定卒業者,留年者,退学者の間で高校評点,入学試験成績には差がなかったが,入学年度ごとにみると,1987,1988年度は留年者が予定卒業者に比べて入学試験の総得点が高い傾向があり,逆に1991年,1993年度は予定卒業者に比べて有意に低かった。 3)高校評点は,データが入手できた1991年度以降一貫して留年者の評点が予定卒業者より低く, とくに1991年,1993年度は留年者の評点が有意に低かった。 4)留年者も含めて,一般教育科目の成績と専門科目の成績との間に有意を正の相関がみられた。 5)高校評点と入学試験成績との間には軽度の相関しかみられなかったが,高校評点および入学試験総合点は入学後の一般教育科目,専門科目の成績と高い正の相関を示した。 6)しかし,個々の入学試験科目の得点は,入学後の成績と相関しないか,軽度の相関しかみられなかった。 7)国家試験不合格者は,高校評点,入学試験総合点,一般科目平均点,専門科目平均点のいずれも合格者に比べて得点が低かったが,有意差はなかった。以上の結果から,短期大学部開設当初は留年者,退学者の中に予定卒業者より学力のある学生がいたが,年を追うごとに入学者の学力が均質化し,学力が不十分なために留年する学生が多くなってきていると言える。一般教育科目の成績と専門科目の成績が強い正の相関を示すことは,1年次の成績がそのまま2,3年次の成績に反映されることを示しており,入学当初の動機付けと勉学意欲の喚起が重要なことを示している。高校評点や学力試験の成績は入学後の成績とよく相関しており,学生選抜の有効な指標であると考えられたが,各入試科目との相関は乏しかったことから,個々の試験科目の問題内容については改善すべき課題があると思われた。

Abstract 磁気共鳴は医学におけるイメージングにおいて重要なモダリティーであり,高度な数学的手法が画像の再構成に取り入れられている。画像再構成の数学的手法および画像再構成にいたるまでの数学的な過程を理解するこは,MRIを学ぶものにとって非常に重要であるが,成書において明確な説明はなされていない。ここでは,MR画像の再構成法を,複素関数と複素フ-リェ係数を用いて導いたので報告する。

Abstract We have proposed a mathematical model for the micro-dynamics for cultured cells measured with ECIS system for the detection of nanometer-order dynamics of cells cultured on a small gold electrode and could separately evaluate cell-to-cell distance (A) and cell-to-substrate distance (h). For wide applications of this method, we constructed mathematical models which express cell-to-electrode impedances for some kinds of confluent conditions. Based on this mathematical model, we defined new parameters S(A) and S(h) in order to evaluate cell-to-cell distance and cell-to-substrate distance. As the application, we investigated the effect of X-irradiation to bovine aortic endothelial cell (BAEC). We analyzed the micro-dynamics of cells from the impedance of BAEC before and after X-irradiation. It was proved that the stimulation of 100 Gy X-irradiation to the BAEC resulted in the large scale of increase in the cell-to-cell distances (A), and the slight increase in the cell-to-substrate distances (h) accompany with continuous fluctuations.

Abstract 「ゆとりの中で生きる力」の育成を重視した学習指導要領が改訂され、「習得」「活用」「探究」を強調した新学習指導要領が2008年に告示された。教育課程の国際的通用性が強調され、算数教育においても、習得と探究を活用でつなぐ授業改善が求められている。ゆとり教育では、指導内容が30%、指導時数が14%縮減されたため、学力低下論議が過熱化してきている。昨年度及び本年度とも実施された全国学力調査において、活用力には課題があると報告された。このため、算数科においては活用力の育成が算数の授業改善の喫緊の課題としてクローズアップされている。そこで、「習得」「活用」「探究」教育における「活用」の位置づけ明確にするとともに、算数科で活用力を育成するためにどんな授業改善をすべきか、その方策を検討する。

Abstract PISA型読解力は良好とは言えない状況にある。PISA型読解力の育成は、算数教育においても喫緊の課題である。算数教育の中でPISA型読解力を育成するには、実現したい姿を具体的にイメージ化することが大切である。算数科でPISA型読解力が身についた姿をイメージ化することで、目標が明確になり、目標を達成する方策も具体的になると考える。それでは、読解力が身についた姿とはどのような姿だろうか。PISA型読解力の構成要素は、「理解」「熟考」「活用」である。「理解」とは、問題から必要な情報を取り出し、根拠を基に図・式・ことば等の数学的表現を用いて自分の考えを見出すことである。「熟考」とは、自分の考えを説明し、他者との話し合いの中で自己の考えを振り返ることである。「活用」とは、獲得した知識、技能、考え方を創造的・発展的に新たな学習や日常生活に生かすることである。以上のように考えて、PISA型読解力を育成する授業モデルを開発した。

Abstract 創造の原動力となる思考力を育てることは喫緊の課題である。算数科で思考力を育成することは、数学的な考え方を育成することである。数学的な考え方は、児童自らが数量や図形に算数的活動を通して関わり、試行錯誤的に考える中で育成されるものと考えられる。本研究は、算数科第4学年「小数」の単元で、自ら考え、活用する力を育てる効果的な指導方法について授業実践を通して実証的に研究する。そのため、まず、「小数」の単元の指導目標を分析し、思考力としての「数学的な考え方」を明らかにする。次に、「数学的な考え方」を伸ばすために効果的な指導方略として「算数的活動」の最適化を検討する。最後に、それぞれの場面での児童の「数学的な考え方」を見取るために指標を基に、「つくる」「活用する」場の比較を通して、児童の「数学的な考え方」がどのように伸びたかを評価し、指導方略の効果を検証する。

Abstract A rigorous accuracy analysis is given to various techniques for estimating parameters of geometric models from noisy data for computer vision applications. First, it is pointed out that parameter estimation for vision applications is very different in nature from traditional statistical analysis and hence a different mathematical framework is necessary in such a domain. After general theories on estimation and accuracy are given, typical existing techniques are selected, and their accuracy is evaluated up to higher order terms. This leads to a “hyperaccurate” method that outperforms existing methods.

Abstract The operations of a reactor furnace such as a blast furnace still depend on the experiences and intuitions of skilled operators due to the complexity of internal furnace phenomena and high temperature. There is a great demand for stable operations under the circumstances of a decrease in the number of skilled operators and difficulty in technology inheritance. This paper aims to construct mathematical description for control of a reactor furnace. Further, the linear-quadratic-gaussian control system for a reactor furnace is proposed, which estimates inner furnace temperature distribution using measured data near furnace wall. Temperature distribution of a furnace is controlled based on the estimated inner temperature distribution changing of boundary conditions of a furnace. The practicability of the proposed control method was checked through numerical experiments.
