This book has been designated as an Important Cultural Property by the national government. The book records events over the period of 15 years from 1568, when Oda Nobunaga entered Kyoto, to 1582, when the Honno-ji Incident took place, resulting in Nobunaga’s forced suicide. The book was written by Ota Gyuichi by order of the Ikeda family. In Vol. 13, a special description is added concerning the letter of appreciation that Nobunaga sent to Ikeda Koshin (later renamed Terumasa), in recognition of his contribution to the victory in the Battle of Hanakuma in 1580. This was Ikeda Koshin’s first battle, which he joined together with his father, Katsusaburo (Tsuneoki, later renamed Nobuteru), and his brother Katsukuro (Motosuke). |
