| Description4 |
The mountains are depicted as viewed from Lake Biwa, which is drawn in the center of the map. The characters are written roughly from east to west as indicated on the map. Locations of feudal lords’ residences are specified in Hikone and Zeze. Slips of paper attached to these locations respectively read: “300,000 koku for Ii Kamon” and “70,000 koku for Honda Hyobu.” The map shows district borders and district names. In addition to village names, there are three vermilion circles representing palaces, together with the names of many temples and shrines. In the bottom left corner in the margin are given the number of districts, an explanation about the number, district names, and the total yield of rice for the province. |
