| Description4 |
This is one of the 37 maps of castles and castle towns in Saikaido contained together in an envelope. Ikeda Nariteru was the first son of the eighth lord Ikeda Narimasa. He was born on the fifth day of the 11th month in the ninth year of the Kansei era (1797) in the lunar calendar. While he was young, he was called Shinnojo. On the 19th day of the second month in the 12th year of the Bunka era (1815), he was assigned to the post of Kura-no-kami and was renamed Nariteru. However, he passed away on the 18th day of the third month in the second year of the Bunsei era (1819). We assume that retainers of the Ikeda family collected maps and kept them in an envelope to use them to help Nariteru in his studies of military science. |
