This map, which is contained in an envelope, shows the deployment of forces in the Battle of Nagashino. On the verso side of the rightmost end of the map it reads: “The map of the Battlefield at Nagashino, produced by Nagasada Tomonao.” The vermilion marks on the left side of the map represent the forces of the Takeda clan. The forces of the Oda clan are shown in Indian ink on the right side. The map shows the troop led by Ikeda Shonyu (Nobuteru) in front of the troop led by Oda Nobunaga. Although the map employs a pictorial painting style, we assume that it was produced as a military science study material. |
