Description4 |
While the characters are written from the north to the south as indicated on the map, the mountains are depicted as viewed from diverse directions, in most cases as viewed from rivers. The residence of the lord is specified as Tsuyama Castle. A slip of paper attached there reads: “186,500 koku for Mori Naiki.” The map shows district borders and district names, village names, and the names of many temples and shrines. Next to Tanjo-ji Temple (lit. birth temple) there is a note saying that it is the birthplace of Honen (Buddhist priest). In the bottom left corner in the margin are given the number of districts, their names, the total yield of rice for the province, and an explanation about district names. |
