| 抄録 | This study proposes a theoretical framework for understanding the relationship between the structural representation of university libraries and knowledge creation. In recent years, university libraries have experienced significant transformations due to the digitization of scholarly information, the expansion of research data management, and the increasing importance of learning support services. As their functions diversify, it has become increasingly difficult to comprehensively understand the structure and roles of university libraries.
To address this issue, this study focuses on the concept of a library schema, which represents the structural relationships among the elements that constitute a library, including people, resources, services, and activities. While previous research has discussed methods for organizing library components, little attention has been paid to how structural understanding of libraries contributes to knowledge creation and service value. Drawing on schema theory, shared cognition in organizational studies, and the knowledge creation theory of Nonaka and Takeuchi, this study constructs a conceptual framework linking library schema visualization, shared cognition, interaction, knowledge creation processes, and library service value. The framework proposes that visualization of library structure through a library schema promotes shared cognition among librarians and users, which in turn facilitates interactions that activate knowledge creation processes. These processes ultimately contribute to the creation of library service value that supports learning and research activities. Furthermore, the framework introduces two moderating factors: schema representation methods and operational constraints of library management. Based on this framework, six research propositions are presented. By integrating concepts from library and information science with knowledge management theory, this study contributes to the theoretical understanding of university libraries as knowledge infrastructures and provides a foundation for future empirical research on knowledge creation in library environments. |
