旧日本陸軍第十七師団駐屯地造営時古写真の解読

In 2022, an old photograph was discovered that was thought to be of an army post of the 17th Division of the Imperial Japanese Army, but unfortunately it had no textual record. The first purpose of this paper is to verify the authenticity of the photograph. I therefore examined whether the contents of the photograph were consistent with the landscape of the Meiji period and whether it was possible to take it with the photographic equipment and technology of the time. As a result, I confirmed that there was no contradiction in its contents, and it also became clear that it could have been taken with the equipment and technology of the time. Next, I examined when the photograph was taken based on its contents and known records. Finally, I estimated that it had been taken in the spring of 1908.
