A Questionnaire Study on Attitudes toward Birth and Child-rearing of University Students in Japan, China,and South Korea

抄録	This study examines the attitudes of young Japanese, Chinese, and South Koreans toward birth and child-rearing. The survey targeted four-year university students (n＝1,668) who responded to an anonymous survey using self-report questionnaires between December 2012 and April 2013. The collection rates were 72.5%, 94.7%, and 96.5% for the Japanese, Chinese, and South Korean students, respectively. Correlations among the respondentsʼ attributes, medical and scientific literacy levels, and views of preferred qualities of children were analyzed using chi-square test, supplemented by residual analysis (significance level set at p＜0.05). Participants were asked whether they were willing to use the following methods for obtaining preferred qualities in their children:(1) choosing a spouse (43.2%, 72.6%, and 85.1% of the Japanese, Chinese, and South Koreans, respectively, agreed);(2) using a sperm bank (cryobank) (5.8%, 60.1%, and 81.7% of the Japanese, Chines, and South Koreans, respectively, agreed);and (3) using an egg cell bank (ova bank or cryobank) (5.3%, 47.2%, and 70.3% of the Japanese, Chinese, and South Koreans, respectively, agreed). The proportion of affirmative responses (indicating “eugenic inclination”) to these statements was significantly higher among the Chinese and South Korean participants than their Japanese counterparts (p＜0.001). Significant differences were also found in the attitudes of the 3 groups toward methods for obtaining the preferred qualities for their children:prenatal diagnosis, pre-implantation diagnosis, the environment during pregnancy, and child-rearing.

Two-Directional Arthrographic Assessment for Treating Bilateral Development Dislocation of the Hips in Children after Walking Age

抄録	We reviewed the treatment outcome in 14 hips of 7 patients who were diagnosed as having bilateral developmental dislocation of the hip (DDH) after walking age and could be followed up until they were at least 14 years of age. Based on the results of two-directional arthrography of the hip, closed reduction was performed in 2 hips, and open reduction was performed without osteotomy in 12 hips. The final radiographic evaluations were made according to the Kalamchi and MacEwen classification and Severin classification. The mean age at the initial visit was 1 year and 9 months (range, 1 year and 5 months to 3 years). The outcome was satisfactory for one hip in Group Ⅰ and 2 hips in Group Ⅱ according to the Kalamchi and MacEwen classification, and in 83% of the Severin Class Ⅰ and Ⅱ hips. Arthrography was useful for identifying asymmetry, demonstrating the usefulness of a treatment strategy based on arthrography of the hip.

Drug Resistance to EGFR Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

抄録	Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring an activating mutation within the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) was defined as a clinically distinct molecular group. These lesions show oncogene addiction to EGFR and dramatic responses to the EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). Several large Phase III trials have shown that EGFR-TKIs improved the progression-free survival of patients with EGFR mutant NSCLC compared to conventional chemotherapy. However, the long-term effectiveness of EGFR-TKIs is usually limited because of acquired drug resistance. To overcome this resistance to EGFR-TKIs, it will be essential to identify the specific mechanisms underlying the resistance. Many investigators have attempted to identify the mechanisms using preclinical models and drug-resistant clinical samples. As a result, several mechanisms have been showed to be responsible for the resistance, but not all of the relevant mechanisms have been uncovered. In this review, we provide an overview of mechanisms underlying drug-resistance to EGFR-TKIs, focusing on results obtained with preclinical models, and we present some possible strategies to overcome the EGFR-TKI resistance.

抄録	本稿の目的は，高齢者が取り結んでいる友人関係のどのような側面が主観的幸福感に影響を及ぼすかを明らかにすることである。地方小都市である香川県さぬき市で老人大学の受講生を対象にサーベイ調査を2012 年に実施した。この調査データの分析によって，次の２点を明らかにした。（1）サポートの授受を伴う友人関係ではなく，交遊する友人関係が高齢者の主観的幸福感に影響を及ぼしていた。そして，交遊する友人関係を多く取り結んでいる高齢者ほど，高い主観的幸福感をもっていた。（2）交遊する友人関係のなかでは，年賀状の交換をする友人関係，お茶を飲んだり食事をしたりする友人関係が高齢者の主観的幸福感に影響を及ぼしていた。そして，年賀状の交換をする友人関係，お茶を飲んだり食事をしたりする友人関係を多く取り結んでいる高齢者ほど，高い主観的幸福感をもっていた。

Examining Focus on Form in a Task-based English Textbook

抄録	The present study addresses the question how Go for it!, a textbook developed on task-based language instruction mode, treats language forms. Tasks and activities from a sample unit in Go for it! are analyzed to examine whether and how textbook writers incorporate a Focus on Form in the task and activity design. The results show that equal emphasis is laid on both meaning and form, and three major types of Focus on Form tasks and two types of Focus on Form activities are identified. The study may contribute to textbook designers and teachers in treating the issue of how to design Focus on Form activities in task-based language teaching.

抄録	わが国の幼稚園教育において，カリキュラムマネジメントをさらに発展させていくためには，幼稚園現場の職員に対する，実効のある保育目標明確化の必要性が理解できる説明資料を開発することが不可欠であるといえる。そこで，本研究では，その最初の段階として，私立幼稚園職員を対象に，その過半数にそのことが理解できる説明資料の概要をアクション・リサーチにより開発している。その概要に含まれる項目は，各幼稚園において実効のある保育目標明確化の必要性が生じた政策的背景，幼稚園の保育目標にかかわる法的規定，これまでに開発されている実効のある保育目標の明確化手順，保護者が実効のある保育目標を共有することによって保育についての共通理解と子育てへの意欲が促される可能性，保育者が実効のある保育目標を共有することによって保育についての共通理解と意欲とが促される可能性である。

抄録	知的障害特別支援学校小学部の「遊びの指導」の授業における児童同士のかかわりの実態を整理し，かかわりを促す教師の具体的な支援の在り方について検討するため，実際の授業における児童及び教師の言動を時間の流れに沿って書き出して作成したトランスクリプトを基に整理・分析した。その結果，実態の異なる２人の対象児は共に，他の児童に対して高い関心を示しており，その示し方は発声・発語や身体動作に比べ，注視が多かったことが確かめられた。また，対象児の他の児童に対する発信の契機を調べた結果，教師よりも他の児童の言動が契機となった場合が多く，教師が契機であった場合については，対象児の他の児童への発信に至る過程が４パターンに分類された。さらに，児童同士のかかわりを促す教師の具体的な支援の在り方に関する示唆を得た。

Utilization of the Inkling™ for the Rey - Osterrieth Complex Figure test

抄録	The Rey - Osterrieth Complex Figure (ROCF) test assess visual-construction abilility, visual memory and executive function. Three different methods are traditionally used to track and to record the strokes during the production of the complex figure: single pen, switching felt pens and flowcharts. The Inkling™ is an instrument which attributes are to track, to record and to save the information of every stroke depicted in a standard piece of paper. The purpose of the study is to examine the advantages and disadvantages of using the Inkling™ in the ROCF test. 66 ROCF performances were analyzed from subjects aged 6 to 86 years old. Each subject performed the ROCF test twice; first with pen switching method without flowcharts and later with the Inkling™ or viceversa. The comparison of the performances evidenced 5 characteristics: Four subjects distracted by the color of the felt pens, three subjects interfered by the switching of the felt pens, three subjects which performance was facilitated by the colors of the felt pens, nine subjects with unclear score for Fragmentation and fourteen subjects with unclear score for Planning. The advantages that the Inkling™ showed were compensation for the process of flowcharts, avoid interference, and reduce the burden of unclear scoring for Fragmentation and Planning.
