| 抄録 | Well-developed Holocene raised coral reef terraces are formed in Kodakara Island (29°13'N 129°19'E), Tokara Islands, northwestern Pacific, Japan. Detailed morphology and sedimentary structure of the raised reef terraces are observed by field survey through the terraces surface and core drillings. The Holocene raised reef in Kodakara Island are divided into three terraces (TI to III). The surface geo-biological facies and paleo-morphology such as spur and groove system or reef mounds are well preserved on these terraces. The raised coral reefs in Kodakara Island consist of reef flats and reef slopes. No lagoon formed in these terraces. On the raised reef surface, we observed five distinct reefal facies (S-f1-5). The platy and encrusting Acropora facies is the major constituent of the terrace surfaces. We obtained seven drilling cores (B1 to 7) from Terraces I and II along a transect in the southern part of the island. The thickness of the Holocene reef is more than 14m which is approximately equivalent to the Holocene reefs in the middle and southern Ryukyu Islands. Sedimentary structure consists of seven facies (C-f1-7: five reefal and two non-reefal facies). The drilling cores indicating the shallowing sequence at the upward of the cores which characterized by platy-encrusting Acropora facies overlying massive Porites, favid and/or encrusting-foliaceous coral facies. It may indicate the environmental change such as wave-energy gradients and turbidity during the reef development. |

| 抄録 | The microscopic observations of the recent soil horizons were conducted in Okayama, Japan (moderate climate). The several soil horizons, including two surface (epipedon) and three subsurface horizons, were recognized in the forest, poorly vegetated hill, and riverside around the Okayama University. The umbric epipedon can be segregated from the organic-rich subsurface horizons by the scattered organic materials in thin sections. The ochrich epipedon shows the sandy matrix without any cements and the illuviation of clay minerals. The subsurface horizons identified in the study area are as follows: albic, argillic, and cambic horizons. Each subsurface horizon shows the specific structures in thin sections. The albic horizon is characterized by the absence of the illuviation. The argillic horizon definitely shows the clayey matrix and the illuviation of clay minerals. The primary structures may be retained in the cambic horizon. The microscopic examination of the Miocene paleosols from the Ukan-cho, Okayama, was attempted. By comparing the recent soils, the cambic horizon and spodic horizon, which is characterized by the concentration of sesquioxides, are identified in the paleosols. This attempt suggests that the microscopic observations of the recent soils is a useful guide to understanding the paleosols |

| 抄録 | スイス―ドイツ語圏ベルン邦―における初等科学教育の現状を,いわば学校教育法,同施行規則,学習指導要領などから,明らかにした｡独立教科ではなく,教科｢自然―人間―共同社会｣の中の科目｢理科:自然―人間―技術｣,4テーマ｢自然事象と自然体験｣｢自然体験｣｢エネルギーと物質｣｢生物の形態｣に属する34項目で行われており,能力育成が大きな位置を占め認識と知識の習得は高学年になるとともに重要となっており,物理分野の内容が多いが低学年では生物分野が多いこと,しかし,そもそも授業時間数や内容に関する拘束 性は強くないことを明らかにした｡ |

| 抄録 | Permian and Triassic molluscan fossils are found from Mitsu-area, Okayama City, Southwest Japan. Permian bivalve and gastropod fossils are collected from mudstones of the Upper Formation of the Maizuru Group. 4 species of bivalves (Nuculopsis? sp. ind., Leptodesma sp. ind., Streblopteria cf. eichwaldi, Posidonia sp. ind.) and 5 species of gastropods (Worthenia cf. corrugata, Callitomaria n. sp. cf. stanislavi, Apachella n. sp. ind., ??Eunemopsis like trochid, ??Yunnania sp.) are identified. Lower Triassic bivalve fossils are collected from sandstones of the Oono Formation. Neoschizodus cf. laevigatus and Bakevellia (Maizuria) kambei are identified. |

| 抄録 | Jane Austen inherited a rich variety of stylistic legacies from her predecessor Samuel Richardson. Among their characteristic features in common is included the use of "double negation, "the device of which is specifically called "litotes" in rhetorical terminology. The present paper examines Austen's use of negative expressions mainly through her Pride and Prejudice (1813) as our linguistic material. A comparative discussion is made,with the aid of computational analysis, on Richardson's Pamela (1740) as well as on several prose fictions from the late 17th to the early 19th century. Our purpose here is twofold : to show statistically the frequency of occurrence of fifteen negative words found in those prose fictions, and to analyse the chief stylistic effects of double negatives extensively used by Austen and Richardson. |

| 抄録 | 本研究は,社会科教師の授業力を向上させるための研修の原理の解明と,実際の具体的なプログラムの開発を,授業力のうち資料の有効な活用のために必要な力に重点をおいて行おうとしたものである｡社会科の授業構成において,児童生徒に授業の中で実際に配布し彼らの思考や考えを触発する資料の役割は極めて大きいが,実際には教師自身の誤解や力量不足のために本来の役割を果たすことができていない場合も多い。しかし,一方で,そのような力の育成は,経験を積んで得られるものであって研修を通して獲得するものではないという考えもあり,なかなか計画的には育成できないでいる｡本研究では,そのような固定観念を取り払って,実際に研修等で利用できる形のプログラムを開発した｡ |

| 抄録 | The effects of corrective feedback on second language(L2)development have recently been investigated extensively from the interactionist perspective. This paper attempts to review the literature on corrective feedback in general and recasts in particular and to deduce some implications for L2 pedagogy from the research, which indicates that types and characteristics of feedback, measures for L2 development, leaner responses to feedback, leaner L2 proficiency levels and instructional contexts, among others, have variable roles to play in determining how useful a particular type of feedback may be for L2 development. |

| 抄録 | 自己愛的な傷つきやすさを測定するために筆者らが作成した自己愛的脆弱性尺度(NVS)短縮版の妥当性を検討した｡具体的には,NVS以外に,他の自己愛尺度である自己愛人格目録(NPI)も併用して,自己愛の誇大的･顕示的側面と過敏･脆弱な側面が友人関係にどのように影響するかを検討した｡友人関係としては,自己隠蔽,被愛願望,気遣い,対立不安の4つの側面を取り上げた｡その結果,NVSとNPIの下位尺度では友人関係への影響が異なる点が見出され,NVSの有用性が確認された｡また,NPIの3下位尺度のうち,注目･賞賛 欲求と他の2下位尺度は性格を異にする尺度であるという示唆も得られた。 |

| 抄録 | Age-related changes in IgE-mediated allergic reaction were examined in patients with late onset asthma, whose asthma occured over the age at onset of 40. 1. The number of patients with a high serum IgE level over 3001U/mℓ was larger in those between the ages at onset of 40 and 49 and over age at onset 60 than in those between the ages at onset 50 and 59. 2. A positive RAST score to Hdm and cockroach allergens was more frequently found in patients between 40 and 49 and over age 60 at onset compared to those between 50 and 59 at onset. In contrast, the number of patients with a positive RAST to Candida was larger in those between 50 and 59 at onset than in those of between 40 and 49 and over 60 at onset. 3. Severe asthma was more frequently and slight asthma was less frequently observed in patients between 50 and 59 at onset than in those of the other age at onset groups. These results suggest that IgE-mediated allergic reaction in patients between the ages at onset of 50 and 59 is different from that in those with early onset asthma, and that the reaction in patients between the ages at onset 40 and 49 and over 60 resembles to the reaction in those with early onset asthma. |

| 抄録 | To evaluate improvement of mental disorders by spa therapy for 1-2 months, three kinds of psychological examinations, CMI (Cornel Medical Index), SDS (Selfrating Depression Scale) and CAI (Comprehensive Asthma Inventory) tests, were performed in 37 patients with asthma before and after spa therapy. 1. In CMI test, the scores of physical symptoms, respiratory symptoms, and CIJ symptoms significantly decreased after spa therapy. The score of psychical symptoms tended to decrease after the therapy, however, this was not significant. 2. The mean score of the subjects over 40 points in SDS test significantly decreased from 45.7 points before spa therapy to 37.5 after the therapy. 3. Mental disorders evaluated by various categories in CAI test were significantly improved after spa therapy. The average score in CAI test significantly decreased from 37.1 to 27.8 after the therapy. These results demonstrate that psychological disorders in patients with asthma are improved by spa therapy. |

| 抄録 | In recent years, it has been noted that there is a close correlation between leukotrienes and late asthmatic reaction (LAR). In this study, effects of dietary supplementation with perilla seed oil rich in alpha-linolenic acid, which is speculated to affect the generation of leukotrienes through metabolism of arachidonic acid (AA), were evaluated in 6 patients with asthma. The symptoms and ventilatory function were improved after 2-week dietary supplementation with perilla seed oil. The generation of LTB4 and LTC4 by peripheral leucocytes stimulated with Ca ionophore A23187 was significantly suppressed by the dietary supplementation (LTB4 and LTC4 ; p<0.05). Regarding the composition of fatty acids in serum phospholipids, the concentrations of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and AA tended to increase after the supplementation, accompanied with an increase in the ratio of EPA to AA. These results suggest that dietary supplementation with perilla seed oil brings beneficial effects in the treatment of asthma. |
