Reflective Practice for Professional Development: A Preliminary Consideration of What We Can Learn about Teaching from Movies about Teachers

抄録	This exploratory study will begin with a review of cinematic portrayals of teachers and their situations by establishing three categories: thought-provoking stories of teachers and students trying to overcome social barriers, entertainment first productions with an uplifting resolution of conflict, and documentaries that track the real-life struggles and successes of educational practitioners and their students through projectbased training and performance. Then I will use forms of reflective practice and discourse analysis to delve deeper into the details of teaching and context. This working paper will conclude with some thoughts on what ‘good’ teachers do.

抄録	The debris avalanche occurred in Kitamura area, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture caused by the hard rain of Typhoon 12 of September, 2011. Furthermore, 11 small landslides occurred in the study area. In this area, the altitude of mountainous are not so high (150m to 250m) and the amount of precipitation which producted the debris avalanche was not very serious quantity with 230mm. However the debris avalanche occurred. One private house collapsed, and the first floor part of the Kitamura Elementary School was buried due to the debris flow. The purpose of this study is to examine causes of the debris avalanche disaster occurred in Kitamura area using applied geological technique. The length of the debris avalanche scar is about 250m, and alluvial fan is formed as a debris slope. The ground is composed of weathered granite and the bottom of the valley was filled by soils derived from disintegrated granite. There are three small landslides as head scarps with steep slopes at approximately 30°-35°. The debris avalanche was inferred to have started as a shallow soil slip at the head by rainfall. 3 major causes are inferred which originated the debris avalanche in the study area; steep slope, ground composed of weathered granite, existence of sandy soil which occupied at the bottom of valley.

抄録	In September 1921, the Seattle Progressive Citizens’ League was formed with the help of the North American Japanese Association. Led by Haru Osawa, the Secretary, the League started various activities to increase the political awareness of the second-generation Japanese Americans. Haru’s eagerness and leadership ability aroused the hope of people for the future of the League. George Yamaoka, the Secretary of the University Student Club, was also eager for the empowerment of the status of the Japanese Americans in those years. In November 1923, however, Haru Osawa departed this life too young. George Yamaoka also left Seattle to go on to the graduate school in Washington D.C. After the death of Haru Osawa, the League continued to try to improve the conditions of the Japanese Americans in Seattle. It made efforts to increase the membership. It tried to increase the voter turnout of the Japanese Americans. And it sent delegates to the conference of the American Loyalty League, its counter part in California. The vigor of the years when Haru Osawa had been leading the League, however, was gradually lost. In 1928, James Sakamoto began to publish the Japanese American Courier and the League was reorganized under the leadership of Clarence Takeya Arai.

抄録	Congenital coronary pulmonary artery fistula (CAF) is rare, and systemic-to-pulmonary artery fistula (SPAF) is even more so. Furthermore, congenital coronary pulmonary fistula associated with congenital SPAF is extremely rare. As far as we know, CAF and SPAF connected with an aneurysm have not been described very often. We described an 83-year-old woman with an aneurysm originating from a CAF connected to an aortopulmonary artery fistula. Chest radiography revealed a shadow at the left edge of the heart line. Multi-detector-row computed tomography (MDCT) with contrast enhancement and coronary cine angiography revealed that the shadow was an aneurysm connected to a tortuous fistula at the left anterior descending coronary artery. The aneurysm was formed by congenital coronary pulmonary and aortopulmonary artery fistulae. Echocardiography revealed predominantly systolic blood flow in the fistula from the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD). Although neither MDCT, echocardiography nor coronary angiography alone could provide a comprehensive image of the anomaly, including the hemodynamics in the fistulae and their relationship with surrounding organs and tissues, their combination could provided important facts the led to a deeper understanding of this very uncommon occurrence.

抄録	学校における保健教育の今日的課題として，児童が自己の健康問題に対処し，健康の保持増進ができる能力を育成するライフスキル教育の必要性が指摘されている。そこで，本研究では，小学生用健康行動スキル尺度（案）を作成し，児童のライフスタイル要因や自覚症状の訴えなどとの関連を検討してみることにした。健康行動スキル尺度は，保健学習の評価はもちろん，児童自身のライフスタイルや健康に関する自己管理にも活用できると考えられる。そこで，第１報では，小学校３・４年の保健の教科書から健康行動に関する45 目を選択して，小学生５・６年生を対象に調査を行った。そして，因子分析によって33 項目を抽出し，さらに精選して20 項目からなる小学生用健康行動スキル尺度（案）を作成した。第２報において，このスキル尺度とライフスタイル要因や自覚症状の訴えとの関連を検討する。
