| 抄録 | Steroids are often administered at the time of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE), a standard treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with the expectation of preventing postembolization syndrome. Here we investigated the precise effects of steroids on TACE. We prospectively enrolled 144 HCC patients from 10 hospitals who underwent TACE. Three hospitals used steroids (steroid group, n=77) and the rest did not routinely use steroids (control group, n=67). The occurrence of adverse events and the algetic degree at 1-5 days post-treatment were compared between the groups. Fever (grades 0-2) after TACE was significantly less in the steroid group (56/21/0) compared to the control group (35/29/3, p=0.005, Cochran-Armitage test for trend). The suppressive effect of steroids against fever was prominent in females (p=0.001). Vomiting (G0/G1/ G2-) was also less frequent in the steroid group (70/5/2) versus the control group (53/10/3), but not significantly (p=0.106). The algetic degree and the grade of hematological adverse events, including hyperglycemia, did not differ between the groups. We conclude that the administration of steroids was useful for the prevention of adverse events after TACE in patients with HCC. |

| 抄録 | Radical trachelectomy (RT) is a fertility-sparing surgery for cervical cancer. Postoperative pregnancies have a high risk of abortion and prematurity. To prevent this, a procedure involving transabdominal cerclage (TAC) was devised for shortened cervical canals post-RT. Here we describe the successful management of a pregnancy after abdominal RT (ART). The 34-year-old patient was gravida 1, para 0. When she was 27, she underwent ART for stage Ib1 cervical cancer, and she became pregnant 7 years later. Because her cervical canal was 16.7 mm during early pregnancy, we performed TAC at 12 weeks of pregnancy. Post-surgery, we administered an infusion of ritodrine hydrochloride for tocolysis. A selective caesarean section was performed at 36 weeks, with the delivery of a healthy infant. |

| 抄録 | Tachycardia is common in intensive care units (ICUs). It is unknown whether tachycardia or prolonged tachycardia affects patient outcomes. We investigated the association between tachycardia and mortality in critically ill patients. This retrospective cohort study’s primary outcome was patient mortality in the ICU and the hospital. We stratified the patients (n=476) by heart rate (HR) as LowHR, MediumHR, and HighHR groups. We also stratified them by their durations of HR >100 (prolonged HR; tachycardia): MildT, ModerateT, and SevereT groups. We determined the six groups’ mortality. The ICU mortality rates of the LowHR, MediumHR, and HighHR groups were 1.0%, 1.5%, and 7.9%, respectively; significantly higher in the HighHR vs. LowHR group. The in-hospital mortality rates of these groups were 1%, 4.5%, and 14.6%, respectively; significantly higher in the HighHR vs. LowHR group. The ICU mortality rates of the MildT, ModerateT, and SevereT groups were 0.9%, 5.6%, and 57.1%, respectively. The mortality of the HRT=0 (i.e., all HR ≤ 100) patients was 0%. The in-hospital mortality rates of the MildT, ModerateT, and SevereT groups were 1.8%, 16.7%, and 85.7%, respectively; that of the HRT=0 patients was 0.5%. Both higher HR and prolonged tachycardia were associated with poor outcomes. |

| 抄録 | This paper extends the result in [8] to Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces which contains 4 parameters p, q, r, s. This paper reinforces our earlier paper [8] by Nakamura, the first and the third authors in two different directions. First, we include the smoothness parameter s and the second smoothness parameter r. In [8] we assumed s = 0 and r = 2. Here we relax the conditions on s and r to s ∈ R and 1 < r ≤ ∞. Second, we apply a formula obtained by Bergh in 1978 to prove our main theorem without using the underlying sequence spaces. |

Under certain assumptions, we prove that, by replacing R by a finite extension of R, there exists a morphism of stable curves f : Y → X over R such that the morphism fη : Yη → Xη induced by f on generic fibers is finite étale and the morphism fs : Ys → Xs induced by f on special fibers is non-finite. |

| 抄録 | Several studies indicated that chronic low back pain (CLBP) worsened psychological distress (PD) and social participation (SP) improved PD. The relationships among CLBP, SP and PD have not been established. Here we investigate whether SP mediates the relationship between CLBP and PD in 96 elderly people. We evaluated CLBP and SP by a self-administered questionnaire and PD by K6 questionnaires. We used simple correlation analyses, the unpaired t-test, and a mediation analysis following the approach outlined by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to clarify the relationships among CLBP, SP and PD. Using SEM, was observed a significant relationship between CLBP and SP (β=−0.321, p=0.003), a significant negative correlation between SP and K6 scores (β=−0.357, p=0.001), and a significant positive correlation between CLBP and K6 scores (β=0.333, p=0.002). By including SP as a parameter, the coefficient of correlation between CLBP and K6 scores varied from 0.333 (p=0.002) to 0.218 (p=0.035). After bootstrapping, 0 was not included in the 95% confidence interval (0.119, 1.913). SP as a mediator may reduce PD in elderly people with CLBP. |

| 抄録 | Lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a), is a low-density lipoprotein-like particle largely independent of known risk factors for, and predictive of, cardiovascular disease (CVD). We investigated the association between baseline Lp(a) levels and the progression of coronary artery calcification (CAC) in patients with hypercholesterolemia undergoing statin therapy. This study was a sub-analysis of a multicenter prospective study that evaluated the annual progression of CAC under intensive and standard pitavastatin treatment with or without eicosapentaenoic acid in patients with an Agatston score of 1 to 999, and hypercholesterolemia treated with statins.
