抄録	Based on a statistical analysis of R&D activities in the field of superconductivity (SC) in a broad sense, the paper reports that Japan's leadership is strong over the past 20 years, in terms of researchers publications and patents. It also essentially shows that among the main world players, the Japanese normalized contribution is significantly dominating, although some trend towards a diminished leadership is observed in the data over the period 2005 -present time. Finally, the paper highlights that by taking advantage of their internationally recognized expertise in the field, joint Japanese and European research teams may advance superconductivity as a reliable road to meet Energy and Health SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals -UNESCO 2015).

抄録	アメリカの大学におけるセクシュアルマイノリティ学生への支援状況について，State and territorial universities 623校を対象に、各大学のウェブサイトを参照して調査を行った。セクシュアルマイノリティ学生を専門にサポートするセンター・部署を持つ339校の「センター・部署の名称」「支援・活動内容」を調査したところ、名称で多く使用されている単語や、多くの大学で行われている支援・活動内容が明らかとなった。支援・活動内容は10のグループに分類され、「施設・設備」「カウンセリング・サポート」「LGBT関連」「相互支援」「啓発活動」「各種資料提供」「経済・服」「医療」「性関連」「その他」であった。これらの結果は今後の日本の大学における支援・活動の参考となるものであった。

International Students Adapting to a New Culture: Key to Global Education Success

抄録	The Japanese higher education has attempted various internationalization initiatives (e.g., the Top Global University Project), and adopted English-medium instruction (EMI) and English-taught programs (ETPs). Based on several criticisms toward the project and recent investigations of the international students' satisfaction, a lack of formal and structural support for international students has been identified. While a paternalistic approach of student support has been practiced and recognized, this approach relies on informal support of a handful hardworking staff/faculty members and student volunteers/tutors. Furthermore, there are several major issues in integration of EMI/ETPs and administrative infrastructure in internationalization initiatives. In order to make improvements in both activities, international students' adaptation to Japan and its higher education need to be fully considered. In this process of international students' adaptation to a new culture, lack of cultural awareness and intercultural communication, inadequate language skills, educational system differences, and life adjustment and psychological problems are identified as major concerns.

抄録	In a Scholarship in Practice course, Design Thinking and PBL were used as the educational methodology to deliver the learning content in the class called Multilingual Marketing and Community Connection for undergraduate students. Students completed group work, community interactions, and projects all online. Design Thinking and PBL supported student motivation and engagements. This article provides an example of one class that utilized the integration of both Design Thinking and PBL to support innovative problem solving.
