| 抄録 | In this paper, the tendency of the number of tourists was examined for some 30 years at several sightseeing-areas in Okayama prefecture. Recently, large-scale parks on well-known theme have been built in Japan, the management strategy of sightseeing-spots is becoming harder. However, it is important for us to understand the peculiarity of local sightseeing-areas and advertise the information on unsophisticated nature and culture linked with surrounding ecological system consistently. Sustainable management of sightseeing-areas is affected and sustained by the thought and life-style of peoples living in the adjacent areas. |

| 抄録 | 本稿は1995年から2004年まで、小・中学生および高校生を対象に実施してきた各種の科学実験体験活動の実践報告である。これらの体験活動は、岡山大学教育学部理科教育講座の教員とそれぞれの研究室に属する学部生・大学院生たちが実践してきたものである。活動の企画、教材開発、活動の運営、子どもたちに対する実験内容の説明から実験指導に至るまで、ほとんどを学生たちの自主性に任せた。教員は学生たちに対する支援に徹することを原則とした。これらの活動を通して得られた成果や、実践活動を行うに当たって、日頃の自然科学の探究活動の大切さについても触れる。 |

| 抄録 | Young leaves of barley contain a large amount of gramine, which is one of the factors involved in the resistance of barley against aphids. Using stylectomy by laser beam and EDTA-exudate method, we tried to determine if gramine exists in phloem sap which aphids ingest mainly. Phloem sap was not obtained by laser stylectomy using aphids feeding on young leaves. Components of exudates from cut leaves of barley in EDTA solution are known to be very similar to phloem sap. The time course of sucrose and gramine content of EDTA exudates from barley leaves suggested the existence of gramine in phloem sap. |

| 抄録 | The thrips Ponticulothrips diospyrosi Haga et Okajima is an univoltine species which aestivates and overwinters in the adult form in the fields. The oviposition factors of the thrips were investigated on persimmon seedling leaves. The adult female could make a gall and oviposit inside it in vitro. Female could make a gall and oviposit at 20℃, but only make a gall at 15℃. Although it could neither make a gall nor oviposit at 25℃, it oviposited at than temperature when placed on a gall. Female neither made a gall nor oviposited on an extended young leat. However, it could oviposit on the young leaf rolled artificially in a line tube (3.2 mm diam.), but not on the old one. These findings show that univoltine of the thrips may be regulated by the phenology of the host plant and females can oviposit whenever they are placed on the seedlings at the optimum oviposition temperature. |

| 抄録 | The host selection, development and reproduction of sugarcane aphid, Melanaphis sacchari (Zehntner) were studied. Both alate and apterous virginoparous adults showed a stronger tendency of preference to a susceptible strain of sorghum and Cuba grass, Sorghum helepense (Persoon) than a resistant strain of sorghum and Eulalia, Miscanthus sinensis (Anderss). The number of days for larval development was increased with a decrease in longevity and fecundity in aphids reared on resistant sorghum at 25℃ under a 16-hour photoperiodic condition. |
