1. The respiration of mitochondria was measured by the Warburg's manometer and the intermediates of the TCA cycle were used as the substrates. 2. The O(2)-uptake of the normal rabbit brain mitchondria is about twice of the rabbit mitochondria with latent cerebral local anaphylaxis. 3. On the stimulation of the substrate; The succinate, α-ketoglutarate, oxalacetate and pyruvate accelerate the O(2)-uptake in both cases, but the O(2)-uptake of the normal brain is always more than that with anaphylaxis. 4. Fumarate stimulates the O(2)-uptake of the normal brain, but does not stimulate that with anaphylaxis. 5. Citrate and malate do not accelerate in both cases.
