Namely, the author observed the effects of direct addition of urethane, nitromin, myleran, tespamin, colcemid, carzinophilin, actinomycin C, chromomycin, and mitomycin on the changes in the leucocyte count by performing bone marrow tissus culture in fluid media of various leukemic patients, and obtained the following results: 1. In acute myelogenous leukemia nitromin acted inhibitorily a little on the increase of leukocyte count. 2. In chronic myelogenous lcnkemia the inhibitory effect was marked in the descending order of myleran, carzinophilin, nitromin and urethane. 3. In acute lymphocytic leukemia all agents hardly had any inhibitory effect on the increase in the leucocyte count, but nitromin was slightly effective. 4. In chronic lymphocytic leukemia the inhibitory effect was marked in the descending order of nitromin, actinomycin C and tespamin. 5. In monocytic leukemia the inhibitory effect was found to be in the descending order of mitomycin and nitromin. 6. From these experiments, clinically it can be anticipated that nitromin is effective in acute myelogenous leukemia; myleran and carzinophilin in chronic myelogenous leukemia; nitromin and actinomycin C in chronic lymphocytic leukemia; and mitomycin in monocytic leukemia. en-copyright= kn-copyright= en-aut-name=NabeshimaSaburo en-aut-sei=Nabeshima en-aut-mei=Saburo kn-aut-name=鍋島三朗 kn-aut-sei=鍋島 kn-aut-mei=三朗 aut-affil-num=1 ORCID= affil-num=1 en-affil= kn-affil=岡山大学医学部平木内科教室 END start-ver=1.4 cd-journal=joma no-vol=73 cd-vols= no-issue=4-6 article-no= start-page=441 end-page=453 dt-received= dt-revised= dt-accepted= dt-pub-year=1961 dt-pub=19610630 dt-online= en-article= kn-article= en-subject= kn-subject= en-title=Studies on the Effects of Various Anti-Leukemic Agents by Means of Sternal Bone Marrow Tissue Culture of Various Leukemic Patients Part 2. First the author performed bone marrow tissue culture of normal persons with addition of various antibiotics and OX substance in graded concentrations and established the maximal concentration of the agents in the medium, which does not impede the bone marrow cell growth. The author observed the effect of direct addition of various antibiotics and OX substance at this maximal concentration on the relative growth of the tissue, the wandering velocity of the cells, and the cell density in the bone-marrow tissue culture of various leukemic patients; and obtained the following results: 1. In acute myelogenous leukemia chromomycin and actinomycin C acted somewhat inhibitorily on the cell growth of the bone marrow. 2. In chronic myelogenous leukemia the inhibitory effect was found, though only slightly, to be in the descending order of carzinophilin, mitomycin, chromomycin and OX substance. 3. In acute lymphocytic leukemia and in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, no agents acted inhibitorily on the cell growth of the bone marrow. 4. In monocytic leukemia mitomycin showed an inhibitory effect to a moderate degree. 5. Judging from the effects of these drugs on leukemic cells, it may be expected that the efficacy of these drugs in the treatment of various leukemias is as follows: In actue myelogenous leukemia chromomycin is mildly effective; in chronic myelogenous leukemia carzinophilin is also mildly effective; and in monocytic leukemia mitomycin mildly effective. en-copyright= kn-copyright= en-aut-name=NabeshimaSaburo en-aut-sei=Nabeshima en-aut-mei=Saburo kn-aut-name=鍋島三朗 kn-aut-sei=鍋島 kn-aut-mei=三朗 aut-affil-num=1 ORCID= affil-num=1 en-affil= kn-affil=岡山大学医学部平木内科教室 END start-ver=1.4 cd-journal=joma no-vol=73 cd-vols= no-issue=4-6 article-no= start-page=427 end-page=440 dt-received= dt-revised= dt-accepted= dt-pub-year=1961 dt-pub=19610630 dt-online= en-article= kn-article= en-subject= kn-subject= en-title=Studies on the Effects of Various Anti-Leukemic Agents by Means of Sternal Bone-Marrow Tissue Culture of Various Leukemias Part 1. No fibrosis, tendency of confluence, emphysema and eggshell calcification. Changes in hilus could not be found at the begining. 2) No visible changes in blood findings. Except, as the type advanced, a tendency of a slight decrease in neutrophil leukocytes and increase in lymphocytes could be seen. 3) No remarkable changes admitted in lung vital capacity and maximum ventulating volume. Expiratory impediment appeared in the third type. 4) Though welding dust contains SiO(2), welder's pneumoconiosis is innocent compared with silicosis. On comparing the results of the group inoculated with double resistant bacilli with those in the group injected with susceptible tubercle bacilli, the virulency in the former group was markedly diminished. As for the difference in the virulency of double resistant bacilli according to the combination of drugs, a considerable fall in the virulency can be recognized in the combination of SM-PAS, but the decrease in the virulency is still greater in such combinations as SM-INH and PAS-INH that include INH. In other words, the virulency is controlled and represented by PAS resistance in the case of SM-PAS, whereas it is by INH resistance in the case of SM-INH and PAS-INH. In addition, in the combinations of SM-INH and PAS-INH about the some degree of the decrese in virulency can be recognized on the contrary to expectation, showing hardly any difference between the two. 2. There can be seen about the same degree of the fall in the virulency of the group inoculated with the double resistant bacilli obtained from patients and in that injected with H(37)Rv double resistent strain, showing on significant difference. 3. In the group inoculated with triple resistant bacilli the fall in the virulency is still greater than in the case with double resistant bacilli. Especially so in the triple resistant bacilli that is more resistant to INH. 4. There can be recognized no significant difference in the fall of virulency between the group inoculated with bacilli obtained from patients and the group injected with H(37)Rv triple resistant bacilli. 5. The percentage of the three-drug resistant clone in the three drug medium proved to be 4.2 per cent in the medium composed of 10γ SM-1γ PAS-1γ INH; 7.2 per cent in the medium of 100γ SM-10γ PAS-1γ INH; and 2.0 per cent in the medium of 100γ SM-100γ PAS-10γ INH, demonstrating the percentage lower than in the case of the double resistant strain as described in the previous report. 2. In the case with the cross culture of a single clone, the percentage of the triple resistant bacilli is 10.0 per cent in the medium of 10γ SM-1γ PAS-1γ INH; 6.0 per cent in the medium of 100γ SM-10γ PAS-1γ INH; and 2.5 per cent in the medium of 100γ SM-100γ PAS-10γ INH, showing the values close to those in the combined medium culture. 3. The percentage of each triple resistant strain is a little less than the product of the percentage of three individual clones. 4. In the case of acute myelogenous leukemia the degenerative changes of myeloblasts proceed rapidly at an early stage of culture and there appear degeneration granules which can never be observed in normal myeloblasts. Vacuoles and abnormal processes do appear though small in number. 2. In the case of acute lymphocytic leukemia, the appearance of small degeneration granules is marked in the degenerative changes of lymphoblasts. The degenerative changes of lymphocytes proceed slightly slower than in the case of the blasts, and the nonhomogenous condensation or swelling of the nuclei can often be seen. 3. In monocytic leukemia, degenerative changes of monoblasts appear earlier than those of monocytes, and degeneration granules, small vacuoles and various abnormal processes appear most numerously as compared with other kinds of blasts. The changes of promynocytes are relatively rapid and also degeneration granules, small and intermediate vacuoles as well as various abnormal processes can be recognized. In the case of monocytes the changes occur relatively earlier than in the case of those in normal person, and appearance of numerous degeneration granules is typical, large and small vacuoles can also be observed. 4. In the case of chronic myelogenous leukemia, the degenerative changes of myeloblasts take place slower than in the case of acute myelogenous leukemia, but more rapidly than in normal person, In promyelocytes and myelocytes the changes proceed relatively slowly, and in metamyelocytes and neutrophils, the changes proceed somewhat rapidly. Generally, in the case of immature cells degeneration granules, vacuoles and abnormal processes are less in number, but in more mature cells the number of them increases. In the case of mature neutrophils spherical processes appear markedly many and eruption of nucleus is seen rather few. 5. In chronic lymphocytic leukemia degenerative changes of lymphocytes appear somewhat more rapidly than in the case of normal person but they appear slower than those in acute cases, and most of lymphocytes show homogeneous pyknosis. 6. In aplastic anemia the degenerative changes of neutrophils proceed rapidly, having large degeneration granules as well as many vacuoles. Vacolization can also be observed in a high degree. Many abnormal processes appear and the nuclei are also either swollen or erupted. 7. In essential hypochromic anemia the degenerative changes of neutrophils appear rather rapidly and degeneration grenules, small vacuoles, and spherical processes are relatively numerous. 8. The degenerative changes of neutrophils in Banti's disease progress rather rapidly and the disorder in the arrangement of specific granules can be recognized at an early stage. Degeneration granules appear rather rapidly and the nuclei are swollen relatively earlier. 9. idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura the degenerative changes in neutrophils take place approximately in the same manner as in the case of normal person. en-copyright= kn-copyright= en-aut-name=ShinagawaKoji en-aut-sei=Shinagawa en-aut-mei=Koji kn-aut-name=品川晃二 kn-aut-sei=品川 kn-aut-mei=晃二 aut-affil-num=1 ORCID= affil-num=1 en-affil= kn-affil=岡山大学医学部平木内科教室 END start-ver=1.4 cd-journal=joma no-vol=73 cd-vols= no-issue=4-6 article-no= start-page=285 end-page=305 dt-received= dt-revised= dt-accepted= dt-pub-year=1961 dt-pub=19610630 dt-online= en-article= kn-article= en-subject= kn-subject= en-title=Studies on Degenerative Changes in Human Leucocytes in Bone Marrow Tissue Culture U. Influences of Various Culture Conditions on Degenerative Changes in Neutrophils kn-title=骨髄体外組織培養に於ける人白血球の退行性変化に関する研究 第2編 各種培養条件の好中球退行性変化に及ぼす影響について en-subtitle= kn-subtitle= en-abstract= kn-abstract=The normal human bone marrow was cultured in vitro by the clinical tissue culture method devised in our Department in order to see the influences of such factors as the medium temperature, the hydrogen ion concentration, the osmotic pressure in the media, and some single media, on the degenerative changes of neutrophils appearing in the growth area. These results were compared with those in the case of neutrophils cultured in the normal medium. The following are the conclusions. 1. In general the degenerative changes of neutrophils proceed slowly under low temperature but more rapidly at higher temperature. At 15℃ the progress is most slow while on the contrary, at the temperature below 10℃ it is rapid, The number of degeneration granules, vacuoles, and abnormal processes decreases as the bone marrow is cultured at a lower or at a higher temperature centering around 37℃-39℃. More condensed nuclei can be observed at a high temperature, and also at a low temperature. The eruption of the nucleus appears more frequently at low temperature, however, there is almost no nuclear eruption at high temperature. 2. As for the influence of the hydrogen ion concentration, the further away is the pH from that of the normal medium the more rapid is the degenerative changes. In the acid medium the appearance of small degeneration granules is more rapid but the number of vacuoles and sbnormal processes is less, showing no tendency of fusion of nuclear lobes but a strong tendency of non-homogeneous pyknosis. In alkaline medium degeneration granules are less but vacuoles and blisters are numerous, and cytoplasm is swollen, and nucleus tends to swell up or to erupt. 3. As for the influence of the osmotic pressure, in the isotonic solution the degenerative changes appear most slowly, and in the hypotonic solution the swelling of specific granules is marked and degeneration granules are numerous and large with many vacuoles. Cytoplasm and nulcleus are swollen, especially the eruption of the nucleus is striking. In the hypertonic solution the swelling of specific granules is observed, but the number and the size of degeneration granules are small. Vacuoles and abnormal processes are less, while myelin forms can be recognized relatively many. The nucleus and cytoplasm are condensed at the initial stage of the culture but later both of them are swollen. 4. In the single medium such as physiological saline solution, Ringer's solution, serum, or in the isotonic glucose solution, the degenerative changes proceed radidly at an early stage in any of these media, and the changes progress most rapidly in the glucose solution followed by physiological saline solution and Ringer's solution. The progress is slowest in the serum medium but it is more rapid than in the normal medium. en-copyright= kn-copyright= en-aut-name=ShinagawaKoji en-aut-sei=Shinagawa en-aut-mei=Koji kn-aut-name=品川晃二 kn-aut-sei=品川 kn-aut-mei=晃二 aut-affil-num=1 ORCID= affil-num=1 en-affil= kn-affil=岡山大学医学部平木内科教室 END start-ver=1.4 cd-journal=joma no-vol=73 cd-vols= no-issue=4-6 article-no= start-page=257 end-page=259 dt-received= dt-revised= dt-accepted= dt-pub-year=1961 dt-pub=19610630 dt-online= en-article= kn-article= en-subject= kn-subject= en-title=One Method for the Detection of Vegetative Plankton kn-title=植物性プランクトン珪藻の検出の1方法について en-subtitle= kn-subtitle= en-abstract= kn-abstract=Authors have had experiment to lessen the trouble on the detection of vegetative plankton under the microscope. After these treatments, observing the emergence of new patients of hepatitis for full one year, following results were obtained. 1) New patients emerged not only in the contrast group but inoculated one. Of the three group, inoculated with human serum γ-globulin, inocnlated with human placental γ-globulin and contrast group, percentage of contraction is higher the inoculated group with human sernm γ-globtlin than others. 2) By the results of the mass examination, two groups were divided, the one included inapparent and latent infections, and the other was healthy cases. Observing the emergence of new patients in the group of healthy cases, percentage of emergence of the inoculated group with human serum and placental r-globulin was apparently lower than the contrast group. 3) From the facts above mentioned, it has been supposed that the inoculations with γ-globulin derived from human serum and placenta proved to have sufficient effect for non infected, but on the contrary little effect for infected before. 4) More than nine months after the inoculations, no prophylactic effect was supposed using inoculations with human serum γ-globulin for infectious hepatitis. en-copyright= kn-copyright= en-aut-name=KosakaKiyowo en-aut-sei=Kosaka en-aut-mei=Kiyowo kn-aut-name=小坂淳夫 kn-aut-sei=小坂 kn-aut-mei=淳夫 aut-affil-num=1 ORCID= en-aut-name=IwaharaMasao en-aut-sei=Iwahara en-aut-mei=Masao kn-aut-name=岩原正雄 kn-aut-sei=岩原 kn-aut-mei=正雄 aut-affil-num=2 ORCID= en-aut-name=IwasakiTsujio en-aut-sei=Iwasaki en-aut-mei=Tsujio kn-aut-name=岩崎辻男 kn-aut-sei=岩崎 kn-aut-mei=辻男 aut-affil-num=3 ORCID= en-aut-name=IshidaTatsuo en-aut-sei=Ishida en-aut-mei=Tatsuo kn-aut-name=石田立夫 kn-aut-sei=石田 kn-aut-mei=立夫 aut-affil-num=4 ORCID= affil-num=1 en-affil= kn-affil=岡山大学医学部第一内科教室 affil-num=2 en-affil= kn-affil=岡山大学医学部第一内科教室 affil-num=3 en-affil= kn-affil=岡山県衛生部公衆衛生課 affil-num=4 en-affil= kn-affil=岡山県衛生部公衆衛生課 END start-ver=1.4 cd-journal=joma no-vol=73 cd-vols= no-issue=4-6 article-no= start-page=243 end-page=245 dt-received= dt-revised= dt-accepted= dt-pub-year=1961 dt-pub=19610630 dt-online= en-article= kn-article= en-subject= kn-subject= en-title=Studies on the Prophylaxis for Infectious Hapatitis 2nd.
