Abstract

The present study illustrates that the science learned even in the third or the fourth grade of the primary school in Japan, such as "sunshine and the shade", contains some important background directly leading to the well-understanding of the meteorology and the climate systems. The connection on the following points in mainly discussed in the present paper, i.e., 1) the solar radiation, which would be recognized as a "light" by little children, brings the huge energy for warming the earth, 2) different radiation property between the "white surface" and the "black surface" affects greatly to the atmospheric circulation systems, 3) the convective heat transort rather than by the molecular diffusion in the fluid also results in the difference of the effective heat capacity between the continent and the ocean. It is very important for the teachers to comprehend how deeply the study in the primary school leads to understading the various special fields of sciences, as illustrated in the present paper.
