Abstract 『桶物語』や『ガリヴァー旅行記』などで知られるジョナサン・スウィフトは，生涯にわたって多くの詩を書いている。そのほとんどは，散文による諷刺作品と同様，風俗詩や社交詩，とりわけ皮肉，嘲笑，ブラック・ユーモアなどを交えた諷刺詩である。さらに，スカトロジカルな「女性嫌悪詩」まで書いている。だが彼の最初期の詩は，特定個人の美徳や功績を褒め称えた「真面目」な頌詩であり，のちの詩篇とは内容的にも形式的にも大きく異なっている。本稿は，サー・ウィリアム・テンプルの秘書をしていたムーア・パーク時代の若きスウィフトが，何ゆえに自身の好みや気質からかけ離れた頌詩を書いたのか，その理由と詩作の背景を，エイブラハム・カウリーやテンプルの影響と関わらせながら考察する。

Abstract 本稿は，「観察と描画表現との関係についての基礎研究」の継続研究である。本研究は，学校教育での図画工作科，美術科での児童・生徒の活動のねらい等を明確にするために，観察と描画表現との関係について考察するものである。 本稿では，これまでの「観察と描画表現との関係についての基礎研究」の成果を踏まえ，現在の児童・生徒の「観察」の捉え方の仮説と，仮説に応じた美術教育の在り方について考察する。

Abstract 本稿では，教育的関係をめぐる言説について，道徳教育に携わる教師のあり方に言及した1950 ～ 60 年代の論考を取り上げて検討した。「道徳の時間」特設前後には，学級や学校の雰囲気づくり，共感的な子ども理解，教師の姿による感化，子どもへの愛情や教師としての使命感，教職の専門性などが主張されたことが明らかになった。道徳授業における「教師−児童生徒」関係への言及が少なかったのは，学校の教育活動全体を通じておこなう道徳教育を重視した全面・特設主義の影響によるものと考えられる。

Abstract 近代日本に残る近世的伝統とその刷新としての西洋化が混交ないしは相克する位相は，他者としての外国人の目線をそこに投じるとき，より浮き彫りになる側面がある。19 世紀末，近代初期の日本において，どのような文化や伝統をめぐる変化が進みつつあったのか。本稿では，イギリス人旅行写真家のベンジャミン・ストーンが1891 年の日本滞在時，本国の家族らに宛てた手紙を検討し，彼が語る日本で得た経験と観察の内容を考察する。

Abstract 　本稿は近代世界における教員養成の思想と制度の比較研究の一環として，近代中国，具体的には中華民国期における近代的な教員養成制度の発展について取り上げ，まずはこれを対象とした日本における先行研究を整理し梗概を示し，あわせて清末期から中華人民共和国建国に至る近代中国における教員養成制度発展の歴史的特徴を検討した。清末から中華民国初期の学校制度や教員養成制度の構築にあたっては当時の日本の影響が強く認められるものの，やがてアメリカの新しい思想と制度から多くの影響を受けつつ近代化が模索されていたのである。
