| Abstract | Small Area Estimation (SAE) is the process of using statistical models to link survey outcome variables to a set of predictor variables known for small domains, in order to predict domain-level estimates. The need for detailed statistics on small area is constantly increasing. Small area estimation is becoming important in survey sampling due to a growing demand for reliable small area statistics from both public and private sectors. Bayesian hierarchical models provide a convenient framework for disease mapping and geographical correlation studies. Computation may be carried out using the freely-available WinBUGS software. Two approaches prediction to estimate total patient in small area i will be presented. For the purpose of this paper, the small area estimation in this context use data of Indnesia's population based on the 2000 census for the population of Jakarta and data of patient diarrhea from District Health Service of Jakarta. We interest to predict total patient of diarrhea as variable of interest and data population as auxiliary data from unsample for each small area. |

| Abstract | In Indonesia, municipal solid waste (MSW) is becoming increasing complex due to variety of reasons like the increasing quantity of MSW, rising public awareness and municipal administration policies in different cities and surrounding regencies. After the landslide accident at Bandung city disposal site, most of related agencies are trying their level best to improve the situation. Against this backdrop, this paper attempts to analyze the present system of MSW addressing variety of aspects such as quantity and composition of MSW being generated, operational management, legal system as well as financial aspect. The systematic assessment has revealed the problem like lack of legal framework, low coverage, improper waste storage, less encouragement for composting, and lack of proper disposal practices. Finally, an action plan is presenting suggestion for immediate and future addressing the issues like the operational management, institutional, financial aspect, public participation & environmental education. |

| Abstract | 本稿は、アメリカで近年取り組み始めた品性徳目教育について、著者の子どもたちをアメリカの小学校に通わせた体験、あるアメリカの小学校で実際に用いられている校内研修用資料、一般書店で販売されている教師用手引をもとに、品性徳目教育の内容と実際の学校での運用を具体的に紹介するものである。内容的には、アメリカの道徳教育の変遷、品性徳目教育と従来の道徳教育との比較や学校での実際の運用の仕方、クラス討論の仕方に関する資料を取り上げた。アメリカの学校で行われている品性徳目教育は、学校やクラスごとに定められたものではなく、学校区全体で定められ、幼稚園から高校まで共通となっている。小学校では、毎月一つずつ取り上げて討論し、道徳的思考力を高めるだけでなく、実際に行動できるように実行力を養うことに力が入れられている。係の仕事の評価、問題行動の更生のためにも品性徳目がベースとなっており、児童の問題行動について保護者とコミュニケーションを取る際にも役立っていた。未来の良き市民と育成することを目標に、親切でより温かみのある、責任感ある地域社会をつくるため、地域と学校が品性徳目を要として連携し、子どもを育んでいこうとする姿が窺えた。 |

| Abstract | 本研究は、現代の若者の音楽嗜好や音楽に対する意識の実態を明らかにするため、中学生、高校生、大学生を対象に実態調査を行ったものである。調査は次の2つの仮設に基づいて行われた。仮設1.ほとんどの若者がポピュラー音楽を好む。仮設2.複数の音楽メディアを利用して音楽を聴く。調査結果については、約20年前に全国規模で実施されたNHK放送世論調査所による「現代人の音楽」との比較を含めて考察した。分析・考察の結果、「音楽が好き」と答えた92.4％のうち87.7％がポピュラー音楽を好んでいることが明らかになった。また、様々なメディア機器が存在する中で、若者が音楽聴取に用いるものは、「CD,MD,テープ」など、よりパーソナルなメディアに移行しており、「テレビ」「ラジオ」など他のメディア機器に対する絶対的優位性が見られた。 |

| Abstract | Some people may resort to foul language like swearing and cursing to vent uncontrollably intense feelings. These profane and stigmatized expressions, which occur in a large variety of forms, have evolved for centuries and are now deep-rooted in English-sy>eaking countries. It is true that most of them have lost their original or literal senses and are used merely as meaningless expletives, but there are some which are still deemed strictly as taboo--social restrictions prohibit their use in public. This article deals with oaths, imprecations and other blasphemous formulas found in Goldsmith's She Stoops to Conquer (1773) and Sheridan's The Rivals (1775). Examples are sorted according to their fundamental meanings, with some statistical analyses added in a later section for further discussion. We are concerned here particularly with the linguistic features influenced by such social factors as "gender" and "class," tracing the trends in 18th century British society. We hope to elucidate what conventional formulas were widely adopted in those days and how new modes were devised by each author. |

| Abstract | Research on the relation between relaxation and promotion factors of stresses from home caregiving revealed that the number of years as a member of caregivers group had positive effect against such stresses. In this study, we prepared questionnaires focused on psychological function of caregiver's self-help group. Survey sheets were mailed to 385 caregivers joinning in such groups, and 176 valid answers were collected from February to March, 2000. The average age of caregivers was 64.5 years old, and most of them are spouses and daughters-in-law in 3 to 4 people families. The average period as a member of a group is 4.2 years. They satisfied with the activities, and are willing to be continuing members. One third of them always or often come to the meetings, and they ask public service when they attend. Demand for knowledge and technique on caregiving is high, and the group fulfill most of the demand. The members are also willing to tell information to others. |
