| Abstract | As construction of final waste disposal site is essential recently, a problem where we should build it becomes important issue. However, public opposition occurs for the construction because the final waste disposal site has negative image such as pollution of various kinds, increase of traffic volume and noise by truck and bulldozer, and aggravation of living conditions. Public opposition is the most critical problem in constructing final waste disposal site. The source of public opposition has been characterized as NIMBY or not-in-my-yard. This paper presents a survey of the resident awareness on final waste disposal site, and attempts to find factors which affect the public opposition using logistic regression analysis and CART(classification and regression tree). |

| Abstract | We carried out simulations of various scenarios for bioterrorist attacks using smallpox occurring in a virtual area set up on the basis of the census of Okayama-city, Japan, which predict the effect of control strategies against bioterrorism and the loss scale. On simulating a smallpox epidemic, we followed the method of the Individual Based Model stochastically, which can treat the population in the virtual area as individuals. Individuals have personal information, behavior patterns, and interactions among social groups. We took into consideration the influence of residual immunity due to past vaccination. We considered Traced Vaccination (TV) and Mass Vaccination (MV) strategies against bioterrorism. We investigated the effect of TV and MV strategies on the suppression of smallpox epidemics. Consequently, the TV strategy was found to have higher effectiveness than the MV strategy. |

| Abstract | In this paper, we built some models of the spatial data, and evaluate those, using the crime data of Kawaguchi city, Saitama prefecture in Japan. Compute the Moran’I statistics of five crime data related to thefts in the city, the value of sneakthief take the aggregation. So, we pay attention to the sneak, and make a model to estimate the incidence of the events. As a regression, we select the old-age index among regional indexes. Applying a simple regression(SR), a spatial autoregressive model(SAR), a geographically weighted regression(GWR) , we evaluate these models. In GWR model, it is interesting that there are some sections in which the sign of the coefficient takes the opposite versus SR and SAR models. So, stratifying the data by the sign of it, we investigate to data precisely. |

| Abstract | 本研究の目的は教師のメンタルヘルス促進の実践のために、高い「バーンアウト」を生じることが予測できる教師の職業ストレッサーの類型化をこころみることである。岡山県の小・中学校教師710名を対象に調査を行った。まず、「職業環境の要因」(28項目)と「職務事態の要因」(16項目)、「個人的要因」(5項目)からなる3種類の教師の職業ストレッサーの3要因の平均得点を代表値とし、それをもとに小学校・中学校教師それぞれにおいてクラスター分析を実施した。その結果、小学校は3つ、中学校は4つのクラスターが示された。次いで、各クラスターごとに「バーンアウト」の3要因の平均得点の比較を一元配置の分散分析で検討した。その結果、小学校のクラスターは「バーンアウト」の高さの一貫した差が確認できない一方で、中学校は特定のクラスターの順番にあわせてほぼ「バーンアウト」が悪化していく傾向が確認された。以上の結果を基に「個人的要因」のストレッサーとしての「バーンアウト」への影響過程の複雑さと今後の実践上の課題を議論した。 |

| Abstract | It is necessary to consider a stochastic variability in modeling malaria epidemic behavior since the malaria infection cycle essentially depends on stochastic elements. For this requirement, we need to construct an appropriate statistical model from available data in advance. In this report, we provide some statistical models for the analysis of malaria epidemic behavior at Ishigaki Island. These models can be used for recurrence of past malaria epidemic and prediction of future malaria epidemic at Ishigaki Island. |

| Abstract | Continuous Performance Test (CPT) は、注意機能び測定に用いられる神経心理学的検査として知られている。測定条件や評価指標は多様であるため、現在までに報告されている研究成果の解釈は容易ではない。そこで、CPTの主な特徴を概観し、成績に影響を及ぼす要因について既報の文献に基づいて検討した。CPTは課題の種類によりX, A-X, not-X タイプに分類され、いずれのタイプにおいても刺激呈示間隔や刺激呈示確率などが異なり、測定条件の違いによる評価指標への影響が認められた。しかし、刺激の性質や所要時間などの条件についての影響は未だ十分には検討されていない。そこで、本報の臨機応用にはこれらの条件の違いによる影響を考慮した条件設定が必要と思われた。 |

| Abstract | In an effort to secure the comfort of all aspect of life and security through electricity production, research, nuclear weapons production and medical uses, radioactive waste is being generated throughout the world as a result. Without pro – active management and protection, the hazardous nature of radioactive materials can pose serious threats to human health and the environment. A waste containment or disposal facility is required to isolate the waste from man and the biosphere to avoid any undue radiation exposure. Deep geological repository or disposal facility is considered as an effective way to isolate high level radioactive waste, HLW from the human environment, for which a multi – barrier system plays a very significant role. In this paper, literature collection was carried out, aimed to overview the present knowledge about the concepts of repository for HLW and to identify technologies that are currently available in the nuclear industry worldwide and the current state of barrier technologies for hazardous waste sites. |

| Abstract | オーストリアの前期中等教育段階における物理カリキュラムの改訂の現状を,ハウプトシューレにおける物理の新旧学習指導要領などから,明らかにした｡かつてのいわば｢化学を含む物理｣から化学の分離による普通教育中等学校下級段階との違いの解消と第 2 (通算呼称 6)学年における週授業時間数 2から 1への減少とが大きな変化であった｡学習目標,内杏,内容の取扱いの指示における変化からは,ハウプトシューレにおける物理カリキュラムの今回の改訂が,一方で,コアの明確化と集中,他方で,学校･教員の自由裁量の拡大という方針に従ったことが,窺い知れた。 |

| Abstract | This note refers to recent problems of the technical terms used in the social sciences in Poland. The current system transformation process in Poland has a great influence upon the political, economic and social life. Many new technical terms are flowing into Poland with the progress of the radical transformation of the system. In part one, the author presents the general situation of the inflow of the words of foreign origin, the occurence of the new words and concepts in connection with the change of economic relations, the social life and the basic ideology of society. Part two is an introduction of new Polish basic dictionaries, other dictionaries of technical terms for social sciences, and the new texts of economics. The author also makes some comments on these dicitionaries and texts. This note is an attempt to make clear the main problems of current Polsh language for the editing work on "The Polish-Japanese-English Dictionary of Political Economic Terms". |

| Abstract | This is a translation of the paper (mimeo) written by Mark Mazur, the economic adviser to the Deputy of the Minister of Finance in Poland. The subject of considerations in this paper is the development of the Polish banking system and its current problems. The banking sector in Poland is in the process of restructuring and development. State banks have been privatized and financially restructured. Many small banks have established. On the other side, banking sector has been affected by diffictlties asocciated with the period of transformation to a market economy. The author analizes the process and its problems from the viewpoints of credibility, quality, of service, competition, privatization and consolidation. The author indicates; decreasing trend of bad dubts, passive financing activities of banks to private sector and inclination to investment into the state bonds, regional and segmental monopolization of the main banks, and difficulties in the process of consolidation. |

| Abstract | オーストリア第二共和国の初代大統領カール・レンナーは，1950年に死去した。死後間もなく3巻の『遺稿集』が出版されたが，民族問題に関する遺稿『民族：神話と現実』はそこに収録されなかった。この遺構は，「偶然に本を発見」に述べられているような経緯で，1964年にジャック・ハナクによって編集され，出版された。ここに訳出した「民族の生い立ち」はこの遺構の第一論文である。1899年，『国家と民族』によって，当時ではまったく独自な民族問題把握を提示したレンナーの，最晩年の民族問題論として検討に値するものである。この論文の理解を助けるものとして，ハナクによる「偶然に本を発見」と題する解説とレンナー自身による「序言」をも訳出しておく。訳出の底本は，Karl Renner, Die Nation: Mythos und Wirklichkeit, Manuskript aus dem Nachlass, Herausgegeben von Jacques Hannak, Mit einer Einleitung von Bruno Pittermann, Europa Verlag, Wien, 1964. である。 |

| Title Alternative | The Failure of Democratization and Economic Liberalism in Poland in the Interwar Period |

| Abstract | This article is to analyze the reasons of the failure of democratization and economic liberalism in Poland in the interwar period. Poland had failed to establish assembly democracy and a liberal market economy system, which allowed the Pilsudski's coup d'etat and etatism (economic interventionism of the state) to become dominant. This article will attempt to show why the Polish liberal economic policy collapsed and what political and economic conditions were instrumental to the rapid growth of authoritarianism by analyzing not only the economic aspects but the relationship between the parliament, government and president, etc. The economic liberalization and democratization tried out in newborn Poland successively failed due to the immature political bodies, conflict among the parliament, president and government, and the immature market. The administration established after the coup d'etat of Pilsudski was backed up by the worldwide economic recovery and stabilized economic situations of the mid twenties, but not able to take any effective measures against the world financial crisis post 1929. During the 20 years of the interwar period, economic liberalism was always in the mainstream of economic policy, but there was no positive and strong ideology in the background of the appearance of etatism. The market was too feeble to support the unstable Polish economy, and under those conditions, strong intervention by the state in the economy could not be avoided. |
