自尊感情と自己概念の明確性および時間的安定性

本研究は、自尊感情水準の高低と自己概念の明確性およびその時間的安定性との関係を調べるものである。これまでの研究から低自尊感情者は、高自尊感情者と比較して、自己概念が曖昧または中間的であることが確認されている。また、低自尊感情者は高自尊感情者と比較して自己概念の変動性が高いことも確認されている。しかし、これらの知見は、それぞれ異なる被験者について得られたものである。本研究では同じ被験者について自己概念の明確性および時間的安定性を調べた。結果は別々の被験者から得られた結果と一致していた。同一の被験者においても低自尊感情者は、高自尊感情者よりも、自己概念の明確性および時間的安定性が低かった。

This article examines relationship between self-esteem, clarity of self-concept, and temporal stability of self-concept within identical person. This study tested the hypothesis that the self-concepts of low self-esteem people have less clarity or certainty than those of high self-esteem people. Low self-esteem subjects exhibited less extremity and self-reported confidence when rating themselves on bipolar traitadjectives, less temporal stability in their trait ratings about a 2-month interval.
