５歳児を対象とした数量・図形感覚を育む保育所保育の実際と援助の在り方

This study focuses on “the interest and sense of numbers, geometry, and words”, which is regarded as one of "the Ideal Image by the End of Childhood". The focus is on 5-year-old pre-schoolers and their experiences with numbers and shapes in daily lives and games at nursery schools with a comparison with the mathematics classes in the first grade of elementary school. We also aim to provide insights for nursery schools on how to arouse children’s interest and support them to get familiar with geometry and numbers through games.
Our finding reveals that children naturally become familiar with geometry and numbers in their daily lives and their experiences become the foundation when they cope with elementary school mathematics. We also come to know that nursery teachers have to visualize the connection between their games with elementary school mathematics and actively arouse children’s interests and understanding.
