岡山大学環境管理センター Acta Medica Okayama 0917-1533 37 2016 音と色との関わりを意識した季節感の比較表現に関する学際的授業 （冬を挟む日本の季節進行の非対称性に注目して） 16 26 EN Kuranoshin Kato Haruko Kato Rikako Akagi Yoshihiko Inada This study is a part of the activity to develop an interdisciplinary class on the climate environment around the Japan Islands and the “seasonal feeling”, succeeding to Kato et al. (2014). In the class at the Faculty of Education, Okayama University in 2014, the comparative expression of the seasonal feelings between early winter and early spring was made, with attention to the asymmetric seasonal march from autumn to the next spring pointed out by Kato et al. (2013). The students tried the expression firstly with combination of the colored papers based on the Johannes Itten’s (1888-1967) exercise, next with use of the small percussion instruments, and finally with the colored papers again. Analyses of the students’ works suggested the deepening of the expressions on different seasonal feelings between early winter and early spring by the interaction of the art and music activities with each other, such as the music expressions with imaging colors or superposition of the tones at the second activity, the art expressions influenced by the music works in selecting the configurations or combination of the colored papers at the third activity, and so on. It is also interesting that the students’ expressions of the seasonal feelings seem to be reflected by not only the mean seasonal state but also some specified factors in the seasonal march. (2013) [1] which examined detailed comparison between the transitional season from autumn to midwinter and that from midwinter to spring there, paying attention to the asymmetric seasonal march. This paper reports the results of the joint activity of the art and the music with meteorology for the class at the Faculty of Education, Okayama University, with attention to the analyses of the students’ works expressing the above two transitional seasons. Finally, a discussion was also made on how to use the art education for deeper understanding of the climate environment such as the seasonal cycle around Japan. As an interesting example for that, we compared detailed features from autumn to midwinter with those from midwinter to spring around the Japan Islands, with focus on the asymmetric seasonal march between them. Comparison of “seasonal feeling” expressed in the Japanese classic poems called “Wa-Ka” and in the Japanese artistic songs between those seasons was made, at the viewpoint of the above asymmetric seasonal march. It is well known that various biomass have adsorption ability for toxic metal ions from aqueous media. We have evaluated the adsorption ability of the bark of Cryptomeria japonica and Chamaecyparis obtusa, and their hybrid materials with hydrophilic polymers, for cesium, strontium, and other heavy metal ions. As the results, these materials are useful as adsorbents for a water and soil purification system. No potential conflict of interest relevant to this article was reported.

Firstly, the school song “Wa-ka-ba” (which means the deep green leaves) was analyzed as a typical song expressing the season just between the spring and the Baiu, for developing study materials for the joint activity of meteorology to music. Next, seasonal difference of the rainfall characteristics around the Japan Islands was reviewed together with the new preliminary analyses, with attention to the contribution of the “heavy rainfall days” to the total precipitation amount. Finally, the joint activity of the art with meteorology for the class at the Faculty of Education, Okayama University was reported, together with the analyses of the students’ works expressing the rainfall event in a specified season by themselves. As the results, several fiber crops have considerable ability for the adsorption of such metal ions and are useful for a water and soil purification system in large scale. For example, although the air temperature around the Japan Islands is still rather higher from November to early December than in the midwinter, the wintertime weather pattern often appears then due to the development of the Siberian high. In the Hokuriku District, the Japan Sea side of the central Japan, the shallow convective rainfall called the “Shi-gu-re” frequently occurs associated with the air mass transformation process over the Japan Sea in the cold air outbreak situation from the continent. It is also well known that the “Shi-gu-re” is often used for expression of the “seasonal feeling” in the Japanese classical literature. Thus the present study tried to develop an interdisciplinary class on the climate environment around the Japan Islands in association with the “seasonal feeling”, with attention to the transition stage from autumn to winter. The present paper will discuss on the joint activity of meteorology with the Japanese classical literature, the music and the art, for the class at the Faculty of Education, Okayama University, and that at the Okayama-Ichinomiya High School. 岡山大学環境管理センター Acta Medica Okayama 0917-1533 33 2012 中部山岳地域における積雪中の非溶解性微粒子の地域分布 13 19 EN Kazuhiro Toyama Ena Matsumoto Kunio Kawada Hiroshi Satake The vertical snow samples collected from 6 locations (Iou-zen: 800m A.M.S.L; the nearest site from the Sea of Japan, Kongoudou-zan: 1300m, Nishi-Hodaka-Dake: 2200m; the Northern Japan Alps, Hachimori-yama: 2100m, Kiriga-mine: 2000m, Yatsuga-take: 2200m; the most inlying site) in the central mountainous area, Japan, during early spring season 2004, were analyzed for size-separated concentrations of water-insoluble particles in snow layers to investigation of long-range transportation of chemical substances from the Asian continent to high mountainous areas in Japan. Most of particles are less than 30 μm in diameter, the greater part of particles observed at the 6 locations were considered to be transported from the Asian continent sources as Asian dust (KOSA). The variation patterns of the vertical profiles of particle concentrations in snow layers were corresponding among each location. The concentrations of particles with less than 30 μm was gradually increased with increasing distance from the Sea of Japan to the Japan Alps, although, sharply-decreased at 3 sites located the monsoon-leeward of the Japan Alps, suggesting that the particles transported with monsoon were gradually removed from air and deposited in snow cover when the air parcel pass through the Japan Alps. 岡山大学環境管理センター Acta Medica Okayama 0917-1533 33 2012 湿式ボールミル法を用いた無機性産業廃棄物の再資源化技術の開発 6 12 EN Shinichi Sakida Yasuhiko Benino Tokuro Nanba The possibility of material recycling of inorganic slag by wet ball milling with distilled water and an ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt dehydrate (EDTA·2Na·2H2O) reagent was investigated. The wet ball milling of the simulated waste slag powder was performed using a ball mill pot and balls in air for 10 - 100 h at room temperature with the rotational speed fixed at 200 rpm. The fractions of CaO and Fe2O3 in the specimens obtained by wet-ball-milling the simulated waste slag powder decreased, that of SiO2 increased, and those of Al2O3 and Na2O hardly changed. These specimens contained 0.1 – 0.8mass% ZrO2. Appropriate solution and time for wet ball milling were 300 ml distilled water and 20 h, respectively. When the wet ball milling of the simulated waste slag powder was performed twice, the fractions of CaO, Al2O3 and Fe2O3 in the specimen obtained after repeated wet ball milling decreased, those of SiO2 and ZrO2 increased and that of Na2O hardly changed in comparison with those in the specimen wet-ball-milled once. The insoluble end product obtained by soaking the specimen wet-ball-milled once in 6M HCl for 20 hours was composed of 98.5mass% SiO2 and 0.6mass% or less other oxides and is usable as glass material. 岡山大学環境管理センター Acta Medica Okayama 0917-1533 32 2010 ダンス練習場の暑熱環境改善の一事例 8 11 EN Nowadays,we experience severe hot climate during summer.Ambient temperature and wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) in our gymnasium designed for dance lessons exceeded exposure limits of both school health and industrial health. Such environment was our direct concern for risk of heat related disorders among students, guests and staffs using the facility. The building was old, and heat insulation seemed to be insufficient compared to recent standards for the building of the same kind. Introduction of a new air conditioning system to the facility was supposed to be avoided according to energy conservation policy. We considered that applying high-albedo paint to the roof would reflex the solar infrared irradiation and block the heat influx, thus lowering the ambient temperature inside the gymnasium. The renovation of the roof resulted in improved ambient temperature and WBGT. We concluded that application of high-albedo paint might be a useful technique to control high ambient temperature in similar buildings and to reduce risk of heat related disorders. TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry)method plays a key role on the measurement of water content and electric conductivity in soils recently. Some calibrations are needed to measure them accurately. The objective of this study was to investigate preliminaly the corrections of TDR probe, the probe constant for electric conductivity, and the dependence of water pemittivity on temperature as TDR calibrations. The results showed the importance for the corrections of TDR probe and the reasonable value of probe constant.The TDR system used in this study could measure the dependence of water pemittivity on temperature. The inorganic sludge consisted of 14.1mass% of the heat-treated sludge obtained after drying and heat treatment, 20.1mass% of active carbon, and 65.9mass% of water. The wet ball milling of the heat-treated sludge was performed using a ball pot and balls in air for 40 h at room temperature with the rotational speed fixed at 200rpm. The fractions of Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, and Zr in the specimens obtained by wet-ball-milling the heat-treated sludge decreased and those of Si and Al increased. Appropriate content of distilled water and weight of the heat-treated sludge for wet ball milling were 150-250 ml and 4.5 g or less, respectively. When the wet ball milling of the heat-treated sludge was perfomed twice,the fractions of Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, and Zr in the specimen obtained after repeated wet ball milling remarkably decreased and that of Si increased in comparison with those in the specimens wet-ball-milled once. This suggests that the repeat of wet ball milling of the heat-treated sludge leads to a colorless specimen without colored ions such as Mn, Fe, Ni, and Cu. Recently developed new roof greening systems, such as the thin-layer/Excel soil© system and the wetland type greening system, were tested at the roof top of buildings of Research Institute for Bioresources, Okayama University. After a multi-year test, these new systems have been established during high-temperature and less-rainfall summer seasons in the south Okayama region. Data indicated that roof greening effectively reduced the temperature of the concrete surface (more than 10°C). The room temperature under the green roof was also reduced both in a stock room (up to 6°C) and in an office room (about 2°C). We also provided the estimation indicating that this roof greening is useful for the decrease in CO(2) emission through the reduction of the electric power for air-conditioning in the summer. It is necessary for many people to be able to remark, as early as possible, what kind of regional climate change is going on, in order to mitigate the climate change itself or coming damage of the change in each region. In East Asia, the complicated seasonal variations are seen influenced by the Asian monsoon, resulting in the variety of "seasonal feeling". The present paper will discuss on the joint activity of meteorology with music, and so on, toward development of students' sensitivity to the climate change in East Asia with attention also to the "seasonal feeling". Firstly, some important viewpoints for understanding the seasonal cycle of climate systems in East Asia will be reviewed. We will also review the rapid temperature increase around the beginning of April in the Japan Islands in association with the "seasonal feel ing", together with the reports of a lecture on that topic in a primary school. Next, another lecture on the seasonal cycle in East Asia and its climate change there in the secondary school will be reported. Finally, the future joint research plan will be discussed.
