kn-abstract=we encountered a case (47-years male) supected of lymphosarcoma of jejunum by our preoperative X-ray examination, and confirmed the case to be truely of lymphosarcoma of jejunum at operation. Some discussion is made on this case. It is the fourth such cases so far reported in Japan.

kn-abstract=The effect of cornin, extracted from the skeletal muscle of rabbit was studied in vivo. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Muscle cornin was shown to make sufficient antitumor effects on transpanted mammary tumores of mice.
2) Little elevation of antibody tittes was noted in serum of sabbit. 3) Anaphylactic effects of cornin were relieved by adrenalin. 4) Injection of cornin for long time showed no peculiar effect on mice. 5) Antifertilize action of cornin was discussed.

kn-abstract=During the serial transplantaion of the lymphatic leukemia some cases of myelogenous leukemia were found to occur in C(58) and AKR strain mouse. Complement fixation test was performed to found any difference in antigenicity between the original and the trasformed leukemia. Results were; 1) In leukemia of C(58) strain mouse common antigenicity are found between the two leukemias. 2) Identical results were also found in AKR strain mouse. 3) It is suggested that viruses of the two leukemias are similar, although not quite identical.

kn-abstract=Complement fixation test in leukemia of C(58) strain mouse gave positive results. The most suitable antigen was derived from the liver and spleen extract of leukemic mouse which were treated by fluorocarbon and then cultured for 48 hours in allantoic fluid. As antibodies used was antiserum of rabbits treated according to adjuvant method by cell-free extract of the leukemic spleen and liver and the fluorocarbon treated material. No signifieant difference was found in results by either treatment. Some difference was noted in antigenicity between spontaneous leukemia and our serially transplanted leukemia. There were some suggestive evidences that normal C(58) strain mouse has latent leukemic virus.

kn-abstract=A histochemical study on alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase, β-esterase, β-glucuronidase, lactic dehydrogenase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, succinic dehydrogenase, malic dehydrogenase, isocitric dehydrogenase, glutamic dehydrogenase, α-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase and β-hydroxybutyric dehydrogenase has been carried out to clarify the relationship between the clinical feature and the enzyme activities of brain tumors. The materials used in this study were human brain tumors removed from 140 patients in our department from June 1962 to April, 1966. Two-thirds of these specimens were kept at 20℃. immediately after the removal, the rests were quickly frozen by ice aceton mixture, and serially cut at 20μ thick in a -20℃. cryostat, then the sections were incubated in each histochemical reaction mixture. For the histochemical demonstration of hydrolytic enzymes, azo-coupling method was employed, and for the oxidative enzymes, the method described by Pearse was employed. The following results were obtained; 1) In gliomas the cells of astrocytoma grade 1 showed a marked reaction of alkaline phosphatase activity, but decreased in poorly differentiated gliomas. 2) In too-thirds of the cases with gliomas, the longer the duration of clinical symptoms and singns, the more benign were the histological pictures and the stronger in alkaline phosphatase activity. 3) Other enzymes activities in gliomas showed not any specific reaction with the tumors and the prognosis. 4) Alkaline phosphatase, leucine aminopeptidase and acid phosphatase activities are remarkable in fibroblastic meningioma, moderate or feeble in meningocytic meningioma, and negative in malignant meningioma. Other enzyme activities in meningiomas showed no specific features. 5) Acoustic neurinomas show moderate or lower activities of hydrolytic and oxydative enzymes, and there is no characteristic feature on histochemistry.

By feeding Tribolodon hakonensis (Grunther), small fresh water fish caught in the Chikugo River, to dogs, it has been demonstrated that both Metagonimus yokogawai Katsurada and Metagonimus yokogawai var. takahashii Suzuki co-exist on this fish as parasites. In the feeding tests conducted with Tribolodon hakonensis caught in the Kando River it has been confirmed that Metagonimus yokogawai Katsurada alone lives on this fish as its host. From these findings, it is assumed that Tribolodon hakonensis proves to be the second intermediate host to Metagonimus yokogawai Katsurada and sometimes to Metagonimus yokogawai var. takahashii Suzuki as well. 2. By feeding tests with Plecoglossus altivelis (Tenminch & Schlegel) caught in the Takatsu River, it has also been proven that both Metagonimus yokogawai Katsurada and Metagonimus yakogawai var. takahashii Suzuki coexist on this fish as parasites. In the feeding tests conducted separately with Plecoglossus altivelis caught in the Kando River and the Chikugo River, it has been found that Metagonimus yokogawai Katsurada alone dwells on this fish as parasite. Judging from these, Plecoglossus altivelis can be the principal, second intermediate host to Metagonimus yokogawai Katsurada and also the same to Metagonimus yokogawai var. takahashii Suzuki. 3. By feeding tests with Salangichthys microdon Blecker caught at Kasumiga-ura Lake, it has been verified that both Metagonimus yokogawai Katsurada and Metagonimus yokogawai var. takahashii Suzuki live on this fish simultaneously.

kn-abstract=The author investigated the results of 719 cases of tympanoplasty performed at Okayama University Hospital during the seven-year period from 1956 to 1962. The results of the study are briefly presented in the following. As for the postoperative hearing, success was attained in average of 46% of all types of tympanoplasties; namely, 55% in types Ⅰ and Ⅱ, 42% in type Ⅲ, 24% in type Ⅳ and 30% in the cases in which diseased ossicles, polyethylene tubes or tantalum wire were used as columellae. In this study success means the postoperative hearing within 30 db or gain of more than 11 db. The postoperative hearing fluctuated with the lapse of time in about half of all the cases, but most of them became stable within one year postoperative. For the indication of tympanoplasty, the author has concluded as follows. The case with perforation of Shrapnell's membrane need be operated as early as possible even if the hearing is good. In the case with central perforation, conservative treatments are to be recommended provided that the hearing is good, and operation is indicated for the case with moderate hard of hearing. Pedicle flap method results in better postoperative hearing and incurs less perforation of new ear drum than free graft.
