Abstract  Water is an essential substance for living things. Topic on water are at grades 3-6 in elementary science. The roles and functions of water (erosion, accumulation, transportation), germination and growth of plants, etc. On the other hand, the properties of water are not treated except physical change like boiling, evaporation, freezing, etc.<br/>  The color, taste, and smell of water are not discussed in elementary science. This research proposes that the color of water because an excellent theme for inquire based leaning. We have developed a suitable and low cost teaching material for the water color. Furthermore, we have conducted a few lessons with the teaching materials to examine the appropriateness.

Abstract 岡山大学教育学部の理科教育講座に所属する3年生を対象に,理科教材・授業案開発を指向した新しい講義を始めたのでその報告を行う。本講義では,近隣の小,中学校や公民館,科学館等の協力も得て実践の場を確保し,開発した教材や授業案を実践することで生きた教材開発の訓練を行なうことを目指している。教科内容学担当教員と教科教育学担当教員の協働を模索すると同時に,大学教員の教科内容の専門知識や技量を教材や授業案に有効に活用できる講義を意識した。
Abstract Alternative This is a report of the new type of lectures on the development of teaching plans and teaching materials attempted in the science class for 3rd grade students in the Department of Education Okayama Universlty. The students practiced the development of teaching plans and teaching materials, and they conducted their activities not only at university but also at the neighboring schools, the public hall, the science museum etc. We expected the development of further collaboration in the academic staffs in the science education course, and the science abilities will be helpful for the development of teaching plans and teaching materials.

Abstract 岡山大学大学院教育学研究科の理科教育専攻の講義として、教材開発・授業案開発をテーマとした新しい講義を試みたのでその報告を行う。本講義は、理科教育講座に所属する大学院生、理科教育講座の大学教員、附属学校の理科関係の教諭が三者協働で進めることが特徴である。課題設定、教材開発を含めた実践準備および実践を院生チームを組み遂行させ、さらに経験や専門性の異なる人材と論議を重ねて活動を進めることを通じ、将来、協働で学校現場の課題提案・解決を行うことのできる能力を養うことを目標とした。
Abstract Alternative This is a report of the new type of lectures on the development of teaching plans and teaching materials attempted in the science class in the Master's Course, Okayama University. The lectures were conducted in collaboration of the graduate students and the academic staffs in the science education course, and the science teachers of the attached school of Okayama University. The graduate students were grouped into two teams of five or six people, assigned to decide on themes, prepare and practice the development of teaching plans and teaching materials. They conducted their activities discussing problems with people of different experience and specialty, thus developing the ability to jointly propose and solve problems at schools in future.

Abstract 小学校中学年B区分の学習内容を相互に関連付けて考えるための視点として「エネルギー変換」を取り上げ、これをキーワードにした教材開発と授業設計を行った。岡山大学教育学部附属小学校の第4学年の児童を対象に研究授業を行い、児童の変容を学習の記録や授業前後のコンセプトマップの記述をもとに分析した。その結果、児童の中には、既習事項である「光」「熱」「電気」「力」とそれらがもたらす現象とを、相互に関連付けて考えようとする反応が見られるようになった。
Abstract Alternative Attempts were made to correlate learning contents with each other in the physical science of elementary school science. The authors approached this subject from the energetic viewpoint. We developed some materials and disigned an instructon, based on the 'energy conversion.' One author conducted a science class to the fourth graders of elementary school attached to Okayama University. Then we made an analysis of the children's records of learning in class, and used a concept mapping. In this survey, it was found that some of the pupils tried to associate 'light', 'heat', 'electricity', and 'force' with some phenomena that were brought about from these concepts.

Abstract 中学校理科、並びに高校化学における基礎概念の物質の粒子概念や原子・分子の粒子としての表現についてある普通科高校の高校生1年から3年までの全クラスの生徒997名対象に、イメージ図を用いて理解度を測定する目的で調査を行い、イメージとして物質の粒子概念が高校生にどうとらえられているかを明らかにした。この結果より全般的に基礎知識の理解とその応用について不十分であることがわかった。また、全学年で化学変化と物理変化の違いについてイメージができておらず、化学の本質の理解の点で問題点があることがわかった。
Abstract Alternative We have carried out a research on concepts of particle for substance in high school chemistry and junior high school natural science by questionair method with image schema. One of the purposes is the measurement of high school students' understanding depth on substance aas particles. The result shows that many students cannot distinguish pure substance, pure element, pure compound and so many students do not understand physical and chemical changes. Our conclusion is that there are some issues on chemistry culiculum and textbooks in the basic and fundamental level.

Abstract Education for Sustainable Development(ESD)-Environmental Education, has been a major concern at most UN summits. The 2002 Johannesburg Summit broadened the vision and re-affirmed the objective of the Millennium evelopment Goals (MDS) and proclaimed the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development for the period 2005-2014. This emphasized that education, is critical for promoting sustainable development and improving capacity of the people to address environment and development issues. This paper seeks to report, a finding on the level of student awareness and interests in environmental issues at a High School in Japan (a Super Science High School). A curricula unit was developed in the area of environmental education on soil. An actual chemistry class has been conducted in English. Pre & post lesson questionnaires were administered to the students. The result of the analysis indicates that, students are aware of environmental issues but need to be exposed to these issues in the form of activity-based classroom lessons. This we believe, will enable the students appreciate the fact that ESD is a life-wide and lifelong endeavor which challenges individuals, institutions and societies to view tomorrow as a day that belongs to all of us. This we presume is the main challenge of the MDS.
Abstract Alternative 持続可能な開発と環境教育は世界的な課題であり、2002年のヨハネスブルク環境サミットでも議題として採り上げられ、特に教育によって持続可能な社会の発展を進めることが合意された。本研究は日本のある高校で1年間にわたって、土を題材とした単元を実施し、その事前事後に環境問題に関する調査を行い、生徒の環境に関する知識、意識、関心についてどのような水準にあり、授業によってどうかわるかを調査し、明らかにした。

Title Alternative 高校段階への科学教材の開発:カンボジアにおける洗剤に関する研究授業の実践

Abstract A study lesson dealing with the detergent concept was carried out at an upper secondary school in Cambodia after a number of teaching materials concerning with detergent were prepared for classroom activities. Through the pre-/post tests and questionnaires responded by students, the lesson study was evluated high appreciation and satisfactory. The activities prepared in the lesson study were applicable by students. It is also recommended that it can be appropriately introduced as part of curriculum at upper secondary schools in Cambodia and other developing countries which required teaching materials.
Abstract Alternative 洗剤に関する教材(洗剤量に応じて表面張力の低下により試料水の水滴の大きさが変化することを利用したもの)を開発し、カンボジアの高校でカンボジアから来ている留学生と日本人中学校教諭が研究授業を行った。事前ならびに事後テストを実施したところ、生徒の受け入れ方は大変よく、また洗剤についての理解も深まったことがわかった。
